A High-Efficiency and Reconfigurable Rectenna Array for Dynamic Output DC Power Control

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
In this paper, an output power reconfigurable rectenna array is proposed for the first time to harvest RF energy. The proposed rectenna array can be used to capture abundant RF energy with high conversion efficiency in a wide range of input power levels ...

Rectennas for thermal-energy conversion [PDF]

open access: yes2014 39th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz waves (IRMMW-THz), 2014
We demonstrated the conversion of thermal energy in the form of far- and mid-infrared using a micro rectenna, consisting of a spiral antenna coupled to an ultra-fast nanodiode, the so-called self-switching device (SSD). A maximum efficiency of 0.02 % was measured at a 973 K (700 °C) using a calibrated black-body radiator illuminating the rectenna.

Triple-Band Single-Layer Rectenna for Outdoor RF Energy Harvesting Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2021
A triple-band single-layer rectenna for outdoor RF energy applications is introduced in this paper. The proposed rectenna operates in the frequency bands of LoRa, GSM-1800, and UMTS-2100 networks.

Optimized rectenna design [PDF]

open access: yesWireless Power Transfer, 2015
Design steps are outlined for maximizing the RF-to-dc power conversion efficiency (PCE) of a rectenna. It turns out that at a frequency of 868 MHz, a high-ohmic loaded rectifier will lead to a highly sensitive and power conversion efficient rectenna.

Compact rectenna for space application [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS2014), 2014
This paper addresses an ultra-compact (2.8 cm 2 ) and wide bandwidth rectenna operating in the extended Ku-band. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed rectenna can harvest a DC power ranging from 0.125 mW to 1.43 mW for frequencies between 14.5 GHz to 19.5 GHz and for resistive loads between 250 Ω and 4 kΩ.

A carbon nanotube optical rectenna [PDF]

open access: yesNature Nanotechnology, 2015
An optical rectenna--a device that directly converts free-propagating electromagnetic waves at optical frequencies to direct current--was first proposed over 40 years ago, yet this concept has not been demonstrated experimentally due to fabrication challenges at the nanoscale. Realizing an optical rectenna requires that an antenna be coupled to a diode

Linear-Polarization-Insensitive Rectenna Design for Ground-to-Air Microwave Power Transmission

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper presents a linear-polarization-insensitive rectenna for the ground-to-air microwave power transmission (MPT). With an integration of a hybrid coupler and a dual-linearly-polarized (DLP) antenna, a linearly-polarized (LP) incident wave can be ...

Design of a Compact Planar Rectenna for Wireless Power Transfer in the ISM Band

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2014
This paper presents a compact planar rectenna with high conversion efficiency in the ISM band. The proposed rectenna is developed by the decomposing of a planar rectenna topology into two functional parts and then recombining the two parts into a new ...
