TiAVox: Time-aware Attenuation Voxels for Sparse-view 4D DSA Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Four-dimensional Digital Subtraction Angiography (4D DSA) plays a critical role in the diagnosis of many medical diseases, such as Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM) and Arteriovenous Fistulas (AVF). Despite its significant application value, the reconstruction of 4D DSA demands numerous views to effectively model the intricate vessels and radiocontrast

Robotic multidisciplinary endometriosis surgery with multi‐visceral resection: evaluation of short‐term feasibility and safety outcomes

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Despite growing interest in robot‐assisted surgery, the literature remains limited on the application of robotic surgery for complex endometriosis surgery requiring multidisciplinary input for multi‐visceral resection. The aim of the study was to report the short‐term feasibility and safety outcomes of this technique from a high ...

Anorectal agenesis with rectovaginal fistula associated with uterus didelphys and vaginal septum

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2020
Anorectal agenesis with rectovaginal fistula are extremely rare type of anorectal malformations (ARM) characterized by the absence of the anus and abnormal connection of the rectum to the vagina.

A computational study of viscoelastic blood flow in an arteriovenous fistula [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A finite element analysis of flows of an Oldroyd-B fluid is developed, to simulate blood flow in an arteriovenous fistula. The model uses a combination of a standard conforming finite element approximation for the momentum equation, and the discontinuous Galerkin method, with upwinding, for the equation governing the evolution of the extra stress.

Hypergraphs Demonstrate Anastomoses During Divergent Integration [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Complex networks can be used to analyze structures and systems in the embryo. Not only can we characterize growth and the emergence of form, but also differentiation. The process of differentiation from precursor cell populations to distinct functional tissues is of particular interest.

Müllerian duct anomaly with congenital rectovaginal fistula: A rare case presentation

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2015
Pregnancy in a rudimentary horn is a rare form of ectopic gestation and associated with high maternal mortality. Unicornuate uterus with a rudimentary horn is caused by disordered fusion of Müllerian ducts during embryonic life, which can be associated ...

U-Net-and-a-half: Convolutional network for biomedical image segmentation using multiple expert-driven annotations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Development of deep learning systems for biomedical segmentation often requires access to expert-driven, manually annotated datasets. If more than a single expert is involved in the annotation of the same images, then the inter-expert agreement is not necessarily perfect, and no single expert annotation can precisely capture the so-called ground truth ...

Chemotherapy‐Induced Neuropathy Affecting the Gastrointestinal Tract

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy (with/without immunotherapy/radiotherapy) may induce neurotoxic effects on the gastrointestinal innervation. Chemotherapy‐induced enteric neuropathy (CIEN) and, probably, neurotoxicity affecting the extrinsic innervation of the gut and the brain underlie the frequent and impactful gut dysfunctions and brain–gut axis (BGA) disorders ...

Colovaginal anastomosis: an unusual complication of stapler use in restorative procedure after Hartmann operation

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2005
Background Rectovaginal fistula is uncommon after lower anterior resection for rectal cancer. The most leading cause of this complication is involvement of the posterior wall of the vagina into the staple line when firing the circular stapler.
