Injury to the Rectus abdominis as it inserts onto the pubic symphysis is one of the many diagnoses associated with "groin pain" and problems around the hip. Isolating this part of the problems that can contribute to symptoms in this region is often a diagnostic challenge and frequently only part of the management of patients with symptoms in the region.

Introduction: Patients with umbilical or epigastric hernias benefit from mesh- based repairs, and even more so if a concomitant rectus diastasis (RD) is present. The ideal technique is, however, still under debate.

Rectus Abdominis Muscle Endometriosis
Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, 2011Endometriosis is characterized by an abnormal existence of functional endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity, typically occuring within the pelvis of women in reproductive age. We report two cases with endometriosis of the abdominal wall; the first one in the rectus abdominis muscle and the second one in the surgical scar of previous caesarean ...

Diastasis rectus abdominis is a common condition, which may be mistaken for a ventral hernia. The literature is generally of poor quality. The evidence for the effect of conservative and surgical treatment is controversial and long-term results are unknown.

The rectus abdominis flap is a versatile, workhorse flap. It is ideal for head and neck reconstruction requiring large, soft tissue bulk without bony reconstruction, particularly for defects of the tongue, orbits, maxilla, cheek, posterior mandible, and cranial base. Its ability to be folded upon itself and harvested with multiple skin paddles makes it

Rectus abdominis muscle free flap is a good free flap providing a bulky tissue that can be helpful in head and neck reconstruction. Even if less used than before it is a good option that an experienced reconstructive surgeon should know. A brief description of flap anatomy and careful step by step dissection is illustrated in this chapter.
