Functional diversity of macroinvertebrates as a tool to evaluate wetland restoration

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 58, Issue 12, Page 2999-3011, December 2021., 2021
Considering different aspects of functional diversity of invertebrate communities can help elucidate the processes and mechanisms through which ecosystems recover following restoration. We encourage the use of trait‐based approaches to identify trends in processes and patterns that can guide future wetland restoration projects.

Improving species status assessments under the U.S. Endangered Species Act and implications for multispecies conservation challenges worldwide

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 35, Issue 6, Page 1715-1724, December 2021., 2021
Abstract Despite its successes, the U.S. Endangered Species Act (ESA) has proven challenging to implement due to funding limitations, workload backlog, and other problems. As threats to species survival intensify and as more species come under threat, the need for the ESA and similar conservation laws and policies in other countries to function ...

Effectiveness of Functional Family Therapy in a Non‐Western Context: Findings from a Randomized‐Controlled Evaluation of Youth Offenders in Singapore

open access: yesFamily Process, Volume 60, Issue 4, Page 1170-1184, December 2021., 2021
This study is the first to evaluate Functional Family Therapy (FFT) in a non‐Western culture. The effectiveness of FFT was examined in relation to three proximal outcomes relevant to youth offender rehabilitation: (i) mental well‐being, (ii) family functioning, and (iii) probation completion.

Evaluating institutional fit for the conservation of threatened species

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 35, Issue 5, Page 1437-1450, October 2021., 2021
Abstract Recovery and conservation of threatened species require adequate institutional responses. We tested an approach to systematically identify and measure how an institutional framework acknowledges threats and required responses for the recovery of endangered species.

Comparison of the duration of hospital stay after laparoscopic or open distal pancreatectomy: randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), Volume 107, Issue 10, Page 1281-1288, September 2020., 2020
Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) was compared with open distal pancreatectomy (ODP) in a randomized trial. LDP was associated with shorter hospital stay, enhanced functional recovery, and less bleeding than ODP. Shorter hospital stay with laparoscopy Background Studies have suggested that laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) is advantageous

Predictors of Neurological and Functional Recovery in Patients with Moderate to Severe Ischemic Stroke: The EPICA Study

open access: yesStroke Research and Treatment, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Background. Improving our knowledge about the impact of restorative therapies employed in the rehabilitation of a stroke patient may help guide practitioners in prescribing treatment regimen that may lead to better post‐stroke recovery and quality of life. Aims.
