Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Applying Recurrence Plots to Classify Time Series. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The article describes a new approach to the classification of time series based on the construction of their recurrence plots. After transforming the time series into recurrence plots, two approaches are applied for classification. In the first case, quantitative recurrence characteristics are used for classification as features.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Investigation of non linear dynamics of an excitable magnetron sputtering plasma

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
In this paper nonlinear dynamical behaviour of an excitable DC magnetron sputtering plasma has been investigated. Initially, plasma exhibited fixed point dynamics whereas with the increase in the discharge voltage, spikes were observed in the floating ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

A recurrence plot-based approach for Parkinson’s disease identification

open access: yesFuture Generation Computer Systems, 2019
Abstract Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects millions of people worldwide, causing mental and mainly motor dysfunctions. The negative impact on the patient’s daily routine has moved the science in search of new techniques that can reduce its negative effects and also identify the disease in individuals.

A Study on the Nature of Complexity in the Spanish Electricity Market Using a Comprehensive Methodological Framework

open access: yesMathematics
The existence of chaos is particularly relevant, as the identification of a chaotic behavior in a time series could lead to reliable short-term forecasting.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
