Recurrence quantification analysis of speech
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006A time-series analysis technique known as recurrence quantification analysis (RQA) holds promise as a new method for investigating the dynamical properties of the acoustic speech signal. RQA was created to deal with complex time series generated by high-dimensional, nonlinear dynamical systems.

Quantification analysis of fuzzy recurrence plots
Europhysics Letters, 2022Abstract The method of fuzzy recurrence plots has been introduced as an extension of the method of recurrence plots to display recurrences of the reconstructed phase-space trajectories of dynamical systems as grayscale images. This paper presents some quantifiable measures of fuzzy recurrence plots in the context of the recurrence ...

RECURRENCE QUANTIFICATION ANALYSIS IN WATERSHED ECOSYSTEM RESEARCH
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2011In ecosystem research, data-driven approaches to modeling are of major importance. Models are more often than not shaped by the spatiotemporal structure of the observations: an inverse modeling approach prevails. Here, I investigate the insights obtained from Recurrence Quantification Analysis of observed ecosystem time series.

Review of Nonlinear Analysis of Proteins Through Recurrence Quantification
Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2002This review considers the use of a nonlinear signal analysis tool, recurrence quantification analysis, as a method to study sequence/structure relationships of proteins. Four broad categories are discussed: (1) a point of view involving information contained in deterministic aspects of hydrophobicity; (2) the analysis of protein hydrophobicity ...

Recurrence quantification analysis of gait in normal and hypovestibular subjects
Gait & Posture, 2012The study of postural control processes during locomotion may provide useful outcome measures of stability for people with unilateral vestibular hypofunction (UVH). Since nonlinear analysis techniques can characterize complex behaviour of a system, this may highlight mechanisms underlying dynamic stability in locomotion, although only few efforts have ...

Recurrence quantification analysis features for environmental sound recognition
2013 IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics, 2013This paper tackles the problem of feature aggregation for recognition of auditory scenes in unlabeled audio. We describe a new set of descriptors based on Recurrence Quantification Analysis (RQA), which can be extracted from the similarity matrix of a time series of audio descriptors.

Sleep-wake detection using recurrence quantification analysis
Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2018Actigraphy is a method for monitoring the movements of the nondominant arm, and the technology has found applications ranging from clinical devices to smart wristbands. Time series obtained from actigraphy data is used in chronobiology to define the sleep-wake cycle, as well as in sleep medicine to evaluate an individual’s sleep quality.

Recurrence Quantification Analysis of Financial Markets
2013Recurrence quantification analysis is a nonlinear time series analysis technique that detects deterministic dependencies in time series. This technique is particularly appropriate for modeling financial time series since it requires no assumptions on stationarity, statistical distribution, and minimum number of observations.
