Averaged recurrence quantification analysis

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal Special Topics, 2022
AbstractRecurrence quantification analysis (RQA) is a well established method of nonlinear data analysis. In this work, we present a new strategy for an almost parameter-free RQA. The approach finally omits the choice of the threshold parameter by calculating the RQA measures for a range of thresholds (in fact recurrence rates).

Recurrence quantification analysis of eye movements [PDF]

open access: yesBehavior Research Methods, 2013
Recurrence quantification analysis (RQA) has been successfully used for describing dynamic systems that are too complex to be characterized adequately by standard methods in time series analysis. More recently, RQA has been used for analyzing the coordination of gaze patterns between cooperating individuals.

Comparison of Cross-Correlation and Joint-Recurrence Quantification Analysis Based Methods for Estimating Coupling Strength in Non-linear Systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2020
Time-delay stability (TDS) analysis is a method for quantifying interactions in multivariate systems by identifying stable temporal relationships in time series data [1]. This method has been used to create network representations of complex systems.

Dynamics of Remote Communication: Movement Coordination in Video-Mediated and Face-to-Face Conversations

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
The present pandemic forced our daily interactions to move into the virtual world. People had to adapt to new communication media that afford different ways of interaction.

Recurrence Quantification Analysis of Crowd Sound Dynamics

open access: yesCognitive Science, 2023
AbstractWhen multiple individuals interact in a conversation or as part of a large crowd, emergent structures and dynamics arise that are behavioral properties of the interacting group rather than of any individual member of that group. Recent work using traditional signal processing techniques and machine learning has demonstrated that global acoustic

Investigation of Tactile Perception Evoked by Ridged Texture Using ERP and Non-linear Methods

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2021
The triangular ridged surface can improve the grip reliability of products, but the sharp edge of triangular ridge induces sharp and uncomfortable feeling.

Recurrence Quantification for the Analysis of Coupled Processes in Aging [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journals of Gerontology: Series B, 2017
Aging is a complex phenomenon, with numerous simultaneous processes that interact with each other on a moment-to-moment basis. One way to quantify the interactions of these processes is by measuring how much a process is similar to its own past states or the past states of another system through the analysis of recurrence.

Recurrence Quantification Analysis of the Period-Doubling Sequence [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2018
The period-doubling sequence is one of the most well-known aperiodic [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] sequences. In this paper, a complete description of its symbolic recurrence plot is given, and formulas for asymptotic values of basic recurrence quantifiers are derived.

Energy Disaggregation for SMEs using Recurrence Quantification Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Future Energy Systems, 2018
Energy disaggregation determines the energy consumption of individual appliances from the total demand signal, which is recorded using a single monitoring device. There are varied approaches to this problem, which are applied to different settings.
