Spivey's type recurrence relation for degenerate Bell polynomials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The aim of this paper is to derive a recurrence relation for the degenerate Bell polynomials by using the operators X and D satisfying the commutation relation DX-XD=1. Here X is the `multiplication by x' operator and D=d/dx. This recurrence relation is a generalization of Spivey's recurrence relation for the Bell numbers.

Private Commissions of Public Inquiry: Community Conflict and Multilayer Dissonance in the Mining Industry

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines a unique form of public inquiry that we refer to as “privately commissioned public inquiries.” These inquiries focus on events or incidents that indicate broader structural problems of neglect, misjudgment, or injustice. Using qualitative interview methods, we explore such an inquiry in the global mining industry.

Understanding sustainable outcomes in international development: Towards a realist evaluation framework

open access: yesJournal of International Development, Volume 35, Issue 1, Page 21-42, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Billions of dollars continue to be provided in foreign aid each year. However, few scholarly studies have examined whether the outcomes from foreign aid interventions are sustained after donor funding has ceased. This paper examines current approaches to assessing this issue before arguing that a realist evaluation approach is ideally suited ...

Characterization of the generalized Pareto distribution by general progressively Type-II right censored order statistics

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Mathematical Society, 2017
In this article, we establish recurrence relations for single and product moments based on general progressively Type-II right censored order statistics (GPTIICOS).

The Norwegian legacy of resisting formal grading

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Norway has a longstanding tradition of prohibiting formal grading in primary education. This paper traces a century of restrictive grading policies and their associated discourses. Using Bacchi's (2009) What's the Problem Represented to be framework, we present an analysis of the policy documents that have underpinned Norwegian assessment ...
