Gadolinium induced recurrent acute pancreatitis
Pancreatology, 2013Acute pancreatitis is a sudden swelling and inflammation of the pancreas. The two most common causes are alcohol use and biliary stones. Drug-induced acute pancreatitis are rare (1.4-2%). In this present study, we present a case of recurrent acute pancreatitis induced by a specific magnetic-resonance-imaging (MRI) contrast agent called gadobenate ...

Enalapril-induced acute recurrent pancreatitis
Digestive and Liver Disease, 2003Enalapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, has several adverse effects, but acute pancreatitis is uncommon. The case of a patient with enalapril-induced pancreatitis is described. Development of severe, necrotizing pancreatitis after inadvertent rechallenge confirmed the causal relationship between enalapril and acute pancreatitis.

Idiopathic recurrent acute pancreatitis (IRAP) describes frequent episodes of pancreatitis without an etiology found using current testing. We compared the natural history of IRAP with recurrent acute pancreatitis with genetic mutations.Retrospective cohort of patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis (≥2 episodes) and negative conventional testing ...

Recurrent acute pancreatitis is commonly seen in clinical practice and needs careful evaluation. Endoscopic therapies have a limited role. Genetic testing is not routinely done. Careful clinical evaluation and noninvasive testing should be performed first before doing more invasive evaluations/therapies. Well-designed clinical trials are needed.

Endoscopic Treatment of Recurrent Acute Pancreatitis and Smoldering Acute Pancreatitis
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2015Recurrent acute pancreatitis (RAP) is a challenging condition that can lead to chronic pancreatitis and long-term morbidity. Etiology-based treatment can potentially have an impact on the natural history of RAP and its progression to chronic pancreatitis.

Current management of acute idiopathic pancreatitis and acute recurrent pancreatitis
Revista Clínica Española (English Edition), 2019Acute pancreatitis is an entity of notable importance due to its high incidence and its non-negligible morbidity and mortality. Idiopathic acute pancreatitis is that in which the cause of the clinical condition cannot be determined after an initial basic study. Understanding the underlying aetiology enables clinicians to propose a targeted treatment to

Acute pancreatitis-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura with recurrent acute pancreatitis
Clinical Journal of Gastroenterology, 2016Recent successive reports on acute pancreatitis-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) have revealed that TTP-related microvascular damage is an aggravating factor of acute pancreatitis. Here, we report the case of a 26-year-old man diagnosed with acute pancreatitis due to high alcohol consumption. The patient was unconscious as he had taken

Endoscopic Therapy for Acute Recurrent Pancreatitis
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2013Endoscopy plays an important role in both the diagnosis and the initial management of recurrent acute pancreatitis, as well as the investigation of refractory disease, but it has known limitations and risks. Sound selective use of these therapies, complemented with other lines of investigation such as genetic testing, can dramatically improve frequency
