Data Compression in Recursive Estimation with Applications to Navigation Systems

Journal of Aircraft, 1973
The goal of data compression or preprocessing is to reduce computational requirements in a Kalman filter while retaining adequate estimation accuracy. A technique which averages batches of data is considered here. Guidelines are given for averaging, such as, how often to sample the data, when to average, and how many data points to average.

Compression in Data Caches with Compressible Field Isolation for Recursive Data Structures

2003
We introduce a software/hardware scheme called the Field Array Compression Technique (FACT) which reduces cache misses due to recursive data structures. Using a data layout transformation, data with temporal affinity is gathered in contiguous memory, where the recursive pointers and integer fields are compressed.

Compressing XML Documents Using Recursive Finite State Automata

2006
We propose a scheme for automatically generating compressors for XML documents from Document Type Definition(DTD) specifications. Our algorithm is a lossless adaptive algorithm where the model used for compression and decompression is generated automatically from the DTD, and is used in conjunction with an arithmetic compressor to produce a compressed ...

Enhancement of Compressed Speech Signal using Recursive Filter

2013
Speech compression, enhancement and recognition in noisy, reverberant conditions is a challenging task. In this paper a new approach to this problem, which is developed in the framework of probabilistic random modeling. speech coding techniques are commonly used in low bit rate analysis and synthesis . Coding algorithms seek to minimize the bit rate in

Image compression using a recursive block grouping algorithm

Optical Engineering, 1997
An efficient image compression technique using block group- ing is presented. The similar blocks in an image are merged into a group in a recursive manner. The center of a group is then encoded with the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG)-like algorithm. Simulation re- sults indicate that the proposed algorithm improves the compression ef- ficiency

Compressed Data Structures for Recursive Flow Classification

2003
High-speed packet classiï¬cation is crucial to the implementation of several advanced network services and protocols; many QoS implementations, active networking platforms, and security devices (such as ï¬rewalls and intrusion-detection systems) require it.

A fast recursive pruned DCT for image compression applications

Proceedings of 1994 37th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
This paper presents a recursive algorithm for computing the pruned DCT with a structure that allows the generation of the next higher order pruned DCT from two identical lower order pruned DCTs. The implementation of the proposed algorithm does not require bit-reversal shuffling, coefficient inversions or divisions.

Novel Method for Data Compression in Recursive INS Error Estimation

Journal of Guidance and Control, 1980
In this work a new data compression method is presented which is applicable to systems whose observables are a linear combination of only a part of the system states. This characteristic is quite common in applied problems, especially in inertial navigation systems (INS).

Lossless image compression based on recursive nonlinear interpolation

1997
The generalized recursive interpolation (GRINT) algorithm was recently proposed and shown to be the most effective progressive technique for decorrelation of still images. A nonlinear version of GRINT (MRINT) employs median filtering in a nonseparable fashion on a quincunx grid.
