Immobilization of titanium dioxide on rubber tiles made from recycled tyres

2022
In this work we present the modification of existing products from recycled rubber in order to get photocatalytically active layer on the product surface (hereafter: photocatalytic rubber tiles, PRT). The advantage of photocatalysis is cheap, sustainable and environmentally friendly technology that achieves complete or partial decomposition of ...

Air purification by solar photocatalysis using recycled rubber tiles and titanium dioxide

2023
Over the past few years, people's awareness of environmental pollution and its negative consequences has been increasingly awakened. Air quality is one of the essential factors that determine human health and longevity [1]. The primary idea of this work was to achieve the synergistic action between immobilized photocatalyst on the surface of recycled ...

Methods of immobilization TiO2 on rubber tiles made from recycled tyres and photocatalytic wind tunnel design for treatment of polluted air

1st European Green Conference : Book of Abstracts, 2023
The immobilization of titanium dioxide on the surface of recycled rubber tiles presents a solution for achieving passive air protection. Solar photocatalysis has been proven as a promising technology for air purification for real scale applications. Nowadays, a variety of reactors and methods of photocatalyst immobilization have been proposed.

Methods of immobilization of titanium dioxide on rubber tiles made from recycled tyres for passive air protection by solar photocatalysis

2023
The immobilization of titanium dioxide on the surface of recycled rubber tiles presents a solution for achieving passive air protection. A completely new purpose for tiles was obtained by addressing air pollution and related health issues. The primary purpose of recycled rubber tiles is to provide protection from injuries on children’s playgrounds, but

Microplastics from recycled rubber tiles: The role of TiO2 protective coating

The major international use of rubber and plastic results in serious microplastic pollution, which consequently negatively affects the environment, human health, and ecosystems. Tire wear particles (TWPs), mainly released from tire abrasion due to traffic, are a major source of microplastics in the environment.

Recycled crumb rubber, glass and fly ash for the fabrication of thin panels via alkali activation in clay tiles

This thesis incorporated different percentages of crumb rubber, recycled glass and fly ash into clay roof tiles using alkaline activation. The role of the alkaline activator solutions of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) was to improve microstructure bonding of samples also commonly used in the construction industry.

Solar Photocatalysis as a Method for Passive Air Purification Using Modified Recycled Rubber Tiles

Air quality is one of the key factors that determine human health and longevity. The air that we breathe can be contaminated with various impurities such as sulfur oxides (SOX), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
