Recycling Behavior and the Mechanism of Justification

open access: yesJapanese Sociological Review, 2002
There exist people whose behaviors do not match their pro-environment attitude. The purpose of this article is to examine the behavioral mechanism of these people who do not participate in recycling efforts despite their pro-environment attitude. This article focuses on two types of recycling : recycling of glass and can, which is of low practical cost,

Digital literacy, benefit cognition, and farmers’ pesticide packaging waste recycling behavior: evidence from China

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
InroductionThe challenge of agricultural plastic waste management, particularly for the rising amount of pesticide packaging produced, has triggered global concerns for the potential detrimental effects on ecosystems and human well-being.

Tumour‐proximal deep serum proteomics identifies biomarkers associated with ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
New biomarkers are needed for early ovarian cancer detection. Ovarian (tumour‐proximal) and peripheral vein serum from healthy women and patients with benign or malignant tumours underwent nanoparticle‐enriched deep proteomics. Ovarian serum yielded more protein identifications and revealed tumour‐reflective signatures.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Household waste recycling: National survey evidence from Italy [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper analyses the determinants of household recycling in Italy with particular emphasis on social behaviour. The econometric analysis is based on two waves - 1998 and 2000 - of the Multipurpose Household Survey conducted annually by the Italian ...

Factors influencing recycled materials using in the construction industry in China: an application of the extended theory of planned behavior

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Waste from the construction sector is a significant component of the global waste composition of many continents. There is a lack of research on the attitude and behavior of workers toward recycling.

Treatment with KCL‐286, a first‐in‐class retinoic acid receptor‐β (RARβ) agonist, ameliorates neuronal DNA damage and inflammation in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...
