Self‐Poled Halide Perovskite Ruddlesden‐Popper Ferroelectric‐Photovoltaic Semiconductor Thin Films and Their Energy Harvesting Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐dimensional halide perovskite thin films, (BA)2(MA)n‐1PbnBr3n+1 (n = 1, 2), exhibit both semiconducting and ferroelectric properties, enabling mechanical and light energy harvesting. Using Cr/Cr₂O₃ or PCBM as barrier layers ensures reproducible ferroelectricity.

Repair, Recycling, and Waste

open access: yes

Dual‐Mode Film Based on Highly Scattering Nanofibers and Upcycled Chips‐Bags for Year‐Round Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent radiative cooling devices, adaptable to various weather conditions, have the potential for year‐round energy savings. This study introduces a sustainable dual‐mode film made from polycaprolactone nanofibers and upcycled chip bags for effective thermal management.

Carbonized Cow Dung as a High Performance and Low Cost Anode Material for Bioelectrochemical Systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
We develop a high-performance anode formed from carbonized cow dung for bioelectrochemical systems. Thermal gravimetric analysis showed that the CD carbonization process started at 300°C and ended at approximately 550°C; the weight was reduced by 51 ...

The dirty man of Europe? Rubbish, recycling and consumption work in England [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
England has been described as 'the dirty man of Europe'. However, the country's household recycling rate has been steadily increasing in the last decade, achieving a recycling rate of 42 per cent in 2011/12 compared to just 12 per cent in 2001/2 (DEFRA ...

The effects of isotopic separation on closed nuclear fuel cycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper investigates the potential benefits to the fuel cycle outcomes of removing a single isotope during separation processes. Two strategies for managing the removed isotope are considered.

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Coupling Interfacial Redox‐Reactions with In Situ Proton Generation for the Photoelectrochemical Separation of Rare‐Earth Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance the sustainability of electrochemical separations for resource recovery, a photoelectrochemical ion recovery system is developed that utilizes renewable solar energy. A composite integrating titianium dioxide nanorods and a redox‐copolymer enables spontaneous cation adsorption and light‐activated redox reactions for regeneration, thus ...
