NGC6362: the least massive globular cluster with chemically distinct multiple populations [PDF]
We present the first measure of Fe and Na abundances in NGC 6362, a low-mass globular cluster where first and second generation stars are fully spatially mixed.

The distance of M33 and the stellar population in its outskirts
We present deep V,I photometry of two $9.4' x 9.4' field in the outer regions of the M33 galaxy. We obtain a robust detection of the luminosity of the Red Giant Branch Tip (I{TRGB}=20.72 +- 0.08) from which we derived a new estimate of the distance ...

Background Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is an age‐related inflammatory disease with shoulder‐hip girdle involvement. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reveals extracapsular/entheseal soft tissue involvements in both PMR and spondyloarthritis (SpA) with sacroiliac joint and peri‐entheseal spinal bone marrow oedema (BMO) being characteristic of SpA ...

Post-AGB Binaries as Interacting Systems
We present recent progress in our understanding of the physical interaction mechanisms at work in evolved binaries of low-to-intermediate initial mass, which are surrounded by a stable disc of gas and dust.

Objectives Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a large‐vessel vasculitis, potentially causing complications such as blindness and strokes. This study aims to gain insights into the pathogenesis of GCA by identifying specific DNA methylation signatures in the arterial tissue of patients with this vasculitis.

We present high-quality near-Infrared photometry of four Bulge metal-rich globular clusters, namely: NGC 6304, NGC 6569, NGC 6637 and NGC 6638. By using the observed Colour-Magnitude Diagrams we derived a photometric estimates of the cluster reddening ...

Five large Alpine cave systems on the Dachstein (Austria) were investigated and 35 sediment profiles or outcrops between 860 m a.s.l. and 1945 m a.s.l. were analysed. An altitude‐dependent overall stratigraphy is established and depositional conditions and palaeo‐environments are reconstructed.

Testing the Breakdown of the Asteroseismic Scaling Relations in Luminous Red Giants
Nearly all cool, evolved stars are solar-like oscillators, and fundamental stellar properties can be inferred from these oscillations with asteroseismology.

Stellar oscillations give seismic information on the internal properties of stars. Red giants are targets of interest since they present mixed modes, wich behave as pressure modes in the convective envelope and as gravity modes in the radiative core ...

From the atmosphere to the circumstellar environment in cool evolved stars
We discuss and illustrate contributions that optical interferometry has made on our current understanding of cool evolved stars. We include red giant branch (RGB) stars, asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars, and red supergiants (RSGs).
