Two lenses for exploring relationships between seabirds and fishers: Unveiling reciprocal contributions

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Reciprocal relationships between fishers and marine life have been documented in Indigenous fishing contexts, but there are few case studies that describe the mechanisms of such relationships, and even fewer that explore other contexts, such as that of artisanal fishers in Latin American countries.

Influence of bait and habitat on site visitation by wild pigs (Sus scrofa)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Bait, a food item, is important for attracting wild pigs to a site for management and considering habitat, including distance to water and understory, increases likelihood of wild pig visitation. Abstract BACKGROUND Wild pigs (Sus scrofa), known for their impacts on ecosystems in both their native and invasive ranges, are commonly managed using lethal ...

Finding the unusual red giant remnants of cataclysmic variable mergers

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
Mergers between helium white dwarfs and main-sequence stars are likely common, producing red giant-like remnants making up roughly a few percent of all low-mass ($\lesssim2M_\odot$) red giants.

Use of camera traps to record wild red panda activity in eastern Nepal

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, EarlyView.
We used trail cameras to monitor wild red panda in eastern Nepal. Red panda activity and behavior types were successfully measured. Cameras placed in trees were 8 times more effective at detecting red panda behavior than cameras placed at ground level facing horizontally.

Revisiting the Activity–Rotation Relation for Evolved Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The magnetic dynamo mechanism of giant stars remains an open question, which can be explored by investigating their activity–rotation relations with multiple proxies. By using the data from the LAMOST and Galaxy Evolution Explorer surveys, we carried out
