Performance The Red Onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) by Husk Charcoal and Fertilizer K Application

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Soils, 2023
The cultivation of Red Onions (Allium ascalonicum, L.) in paddy fields needs to be investigated further because paddy fields have constraints on the soil physical and chemical properties, such as soil structure, drainage, pH, and nutrient availability ...

Star clusters with dual red clumps [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2009
AbstractA few star clusters in the Magellanic Clouds exhibit composite structures in the red-clump region of their colour–magnitude diagrams. The most striking case is NGC 419 in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), where the red clump is composed of a main blob as well as a distinct secondary feature.

Evidence of structural discontinuities in the inner core of red-giant stars

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Red giant stars enter the clump phase as the helium in the cores start fusing. Here, the authors show evidence for large core structural discontinuities in 7% of Kepler satellite clump star data implying that the mixing region beyond the convective core ...

The Mid-infrared Molecular Inventory toward Orion IRc2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present the first high spectral resolution mid-infrared survey in the Orion BN/KL region, covering 7.2–28.3 μ m. With SOFIA/EXES, we target the enigmatic source Orion IRc2.

Modelling the Galactic Bar using Red Clump Stars [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1996
AbstractThe color-magnitude diagrams of ~ 1 × 106 stars obtained for 19 fields towards the Galactic bulge with the OGLE project reveal a well-defined population of bulge red clump stars. We found that the distributions of the extinction-adjusted apparent magnitudes of red clump stars in fields lying at ι = ±5° in galactic longitude differ by ∼ 0.4 mag.

Investigating APOKASC Red Giant Stars with Abnormal Carbon-to-nitrogen Ratios

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The success of galactic archeology and the reconstruction of the formation history of our Galaxy relies critically on precise ages for large populations of stars. For evolved stars in the red clump and red giant branch, the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio ([C/N]

Inferring Coupling Strengths of Mixed-mode Oscillations in Red Giant Stars Using Deep Learning

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Asteroseismology is a powerful tool that may be applied to shed light on stellar interiors and stellar evolution. Mixed modes, behaving like acoustic waves in the envelope and buoyancy modes in the core, are remarkable because they allow for probing the ...
