A New Color-Magnitude Diagram for Palomar 11 [PDF]
We present new photometry for the Galactic thick disk globular cluster Palomar 11 extending well past the main sequence turn-off in the V and I bands. This photometry shows noticeable red giant and subgiant branches.

Using Red Clump Stars to Decompose the Galactic Magnetic Field with Distance
A new method for measuring the large-scale structure of the Galactic magnetic field is presented. The Galactic magnetic field has been probed through the Galactic disk with near-infrared starlight polarimetry, however the distance to each background star

A New Giant Branch Clump Structure In the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]
We present Washington C, T1 CCD photometry of 21 fields located in the northern part of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), and spread over a region of more than 2.52 degrees approximately 6 degrees from the bar. The surveyed areas were chosen on the basis

Chromosomal Locations and Interactions of Four Loci Associated With Seed Coat Color in Watermelon
Different species of edible seed watermelons (Citrullus spp.) are cultivated in Asia and Africa for their colorful nutritious seeds. Consumer preference varies for watermelon seed coat color.

The study of Li phenomena in red clump (RC) stars can give us a deeper understanding of the structure and evolution of stars. Chanamé et al. explained the RC Li abundance distributions naturally using only standard post-main-sequence (MS) Li evolution ...

HST observations of the LMC field around SN87A: distance determinations with Red Clump and Tip of the Red Giant Branch stars [PDF]
We have used HST-WFPC2 multiband observations of a field around SN 1987A in the Large Magellanic Cloud to measure its distance from the Sun. The observations allowed us to carefully determine the interstellar extinction along the line of sight to a large

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Local Spiral Structure Traced by Red Clump Stars
Abstract Using the cross-matched data of Gaia EDR3 and the Two Micron All Sky Survey Point Source Catalog, a sample of RC stars with parallax accuracies better than 20% is identified and used to reveal the nearby spiral pattern traced by old stars.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...
