In red crown rot (RCR) of soybean, the pathogen Calonectria ilicicola can infect soybean plants as early as 2 weeks after sowing. However, symptoms tend to manifest themselves after the flowering stage. Various meteorological and agronomic factors have been thought to influence the progression from infection to symptom onset over several months.

Evaluation of Fungicides Applied to Early Vegetative-Stage Soybean for Red Crown Rot Control
Plant Health ProgressRed crown rot (RCR) of soybean, caused by Calonectria ilicicola, is a significant soilborne disease that typically manifests itself during the flowering stages. Although seed treatments have been employed for RCR control, no method has been developed to provide protection throughout the entire soybean cultivation period.

Abstract A phytotoxin isolated from Calonectria ilicicola, the causal agent of soybean red crown rot, was identified as PF1070A, a cyclic peptide consisting of four amino acids. This compound is known as an antitumour antibiotic and to induce synthesis of metallothionein in mouse Ltk- cells. We tested PF1070A against three soybean cultivars that differ

First Report of Red Crown Rot of Soybean Caused by Calonectria ilicicola in Minnesota
Plant DiseaseSoybean plants (Glycine max L.) with symptoms and signs of red crown rot were observed in approximately 20% of plants in a 3 ha section of a large production field in Rock County, Minnesota in August 2025. The symptoms and signs included interveinal necrosis on the leaves, root rot, and reddish discoloration and raised red to brown perithecia on the ...

Red clover response to Fusarium oxysporum and F. solani, causal agents of crown and root eots
Zentralblatt für Mikrobiologie, 1992Summary Similarity of progeny reaction to mother strain reaction in red clover (Trifolium pratense) inoculated with the pathogenic fungi Fusarium oxysporum and F. solani, causal agents of red clover crown and root diseases, was studied. Transfer of resistance was investigated in 220 populations of 47 mother strains of the tentative cultivar, HŽ-V, of

Soybean cultivar Enrei and its derivative lines, non-nodulating En1282 and supernodulating Sakukei 4, were grown in an experiment field naturally infested with the red crown rot fungus, Calonectria ilicicola, to determine whether nodulation elicits the disease.

Plant Disease
Phytopythium root rot caused by Phytopythium vexans is an emerging threat to red maple and Freeman maple production that seriously impacts plant growth, aesthetic, and economic values. This study reports on the resistance of red maple and Freeman maple cultivars against root rot disease caused by P. vexans.

Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology
Calonectria ilicicola causes soybean red crown rot (RCR), along with premature leaf aging, early defoliation, and necrosis, leading to seriously losses of yield and quality worldwide. Fludioxonil (Flu), a phenylpyrrole fungicide with a broad spectrum and high activity against phytopathogenic fungi.
