Corn hyperspectra and their red edge characteristics
SPIE Proceedings, 2004The hyperspectral reflectance of the canopy in field, the first and the third unfold leaves from the top of corn are measured indoor in different stages by a ASD FieldSpec Pro FR. The concentrations of chlorophyll and carotenoid of leaves corresponding to the spectra are determined by biochemical method.

Assessment of red-edge vegetation indices for crop leaf area index estimation
Remote Sensing of Environment, 2019This study explores the potential of vegetation indices (VIs) for crop leaf area index (LAI) estimation, with a focus on comparing red-edge reflectance based (RE-based) and the visible reflectance based (VIS-based) VIs.

The red edge of plant leaf reflectance
International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1983A detailed study of the red edge spectral feature of green vegetation based on laboratory reflectance spectrophotometry is presented. A parameter lambda is defined as the wavelength is defined as the wavelength of maximum slope and found to be dependent on chlorophyll concentration.

Helvellyn, Striding Edge and Red Tarn
1992If the ice advanced across Britain today, it would demolish all traces of our civilization as easily as we sweep the garden path. Later on, as the ice melted, it would regurgitate a sad and unrecognisable jumble of fragments from everyday life. Today, in England and Wales there are no glaciers, but their power during the Ice Age is revealed by the ...

Red-edge-excitation fluorescence spectroscopy of indole and tryptophan
European Biophysics Journal, 1988Studies on the dependence of indole and tryptophan fluorescence emission spectra on excitation wavelength, lambda ex, show that the emission shifts to longer wavelengths for red-edge excitation in different solid and viscous solvents. In solid systems the spectral shifts for excitation in the range from 290 to 310 nm can reach tens of nm, and they are ...

RED EDGE EXCITATION EFFECT IN INTACT EYE LENS
Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1989Abstract—Shift in the wavelength of emission upon shift in the excitation wavelength towards the red edge of the absorption band is termed Red Edge Excitation Shift (REES). This effect is observed only in a situation where the fluorophore mobility with respect to the surrounding matrix is considerably reduced.

Sentinel-2 based prediction of spruce budworm defoliation using red-edge spectral vegetation indices
Remote Sensing Letters, 2020This research compares the capabilities of various Sentinel-2-derived spectral vegetation indices (SVIs) in particular red-edge SVIs to detect and classify spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana) (SBW) defoliation using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and

Illusory Motion Induced by Blurred Red — Blue Edges
Perception, 2010Visual patterns consisting of a red-and-blue region with a blurry edge yield illusory motion. Eye movements over a static pattern induced illusory motion of the edge in the direction opposite to the eye movement. The illusion also takes place for patterns in motion without eye movement.
