Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

Li Evolution among Stars of Low/Intermediate Mass: the Metal-deficient Open Cluster NGC 2204

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We have analyzed high-dispersion spectra in the Li 6708 Å region for 167 stars within the anticenter cluster NGC 2204. From 105 probable members, abundance analysis of 45 evolved stars produces [Fe/H] = −0.40 ± 0.12, [Si/Fe] = 0.14 ± 0.12, [Ca/Fe] = 0.29

Red giant variables: OGLE--II and MACHO [PDF]

open access: yesMem.Soc.Ast.It.77:303-306,2006, 2005
We review the recent impact of microlensing projects on our understanding of pulsating red giant stars. Discussed are red giant stars' pulsation properties (period--luminosity relations, period changes, mode switchings), Red Giant Branch pulsations, metallicity effects and the use of red giant variables to explore galactic structure.

Near‐Field Phonon Nanoscopy and Imaging of Structural Variants in Mixed Phase BiFeO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nano‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scattering scanning near‐field optical microscopy imaging reveal the phonon response of nanoscale phase variants in mixed‐phase BiFeO3 (BFO). Direct mid‐infrared imaging of associated distinct vibrational signatures is used as a non‐invasive optical detection method for electrical switching of ...

Revisiting the Activity–Rotation Relation for Evolved Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The magnetic dynamo mechanism of giant stars remains an open question, which can be explored by investigating their activity–rotation relations with multiple proxies. By using the data from the LAMOST and Galaxy Evolution Explorer surveys, we carried out

Asteroseismology of Very Low-Frequency Red Giants with Kepler: the Breakdown of the Asymptotic Relation

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
As the Kepler time series grew, so did the interest in the asteroseismology of very low-frequency solar-like oscillators. It is possible to accurately resolve modes for stars near the tip of the red giant branch.

Cell Membrane Vesicle Camouflaged Artificial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial cells camouflaged with a cell membrane vesicle coating are able to assemble into synthetic aggregates that exhibit rudimentary communication capabilities. Additionally, when these artificial cells are equipped with antioxidant capabilities, they are able to protect the intracellular homeostasis in HepG2 cells present in semi‐synthetic ...

Vanadium Doped Magnetic MoS2 Monolayers of Improved Electrical Conductivity as Spin‐Orbit Torque Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrically conductive and room temperature magnetic atomically thin (≈0.8 nm) vanadium doped MoS2 (V‐MoS2) is demonstrated for its spintronic applications. Here, the spin transport at the interface of permalloy (Py) and high spin‐orbit coupling V‐MoS2 magnetic monolayers is shown.

High spectral resolution spectroscopy of the SiO fundamental lines in red giants and red supergiants with VLT/VISIR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present high spectral resolution (R = 30000) spectroscopic observations of the SiO fundamental lines near 8.1 micron in 16 bright red giants and red supergiants using VLT/VISIR. Our sample consists of seven normal K--M giants, three Mira stars, three optically bright red supergiants, two dusty red supergiants, and the enigmatic object GCIRS3 near ...

Regulating the Interphase Strain in High‐Entropy Oxide Thin Films – An Approach to Attaining Giant Energy Storage Capability under Moderate Electric Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates an interphase strain engineering strategy to regulate capacitive energy storage performance in high‐entropy oxide thin films. Through introducing pyrochlore nanocolumns, the polarization response of perovskite unit cells is strengthened, yielding recoverable energy densities up to 93 J cm−3 with an efficiency of 83% under ...
