Improvement of the Red Mud Polymer-Matrix Composites by Organophillization of Red Mud

Advanced Materials Research, 2007
Red mud was organophilized by aniline formaldehyde and to know the effect of various filler loading on the properties of PVA-Organophilized red mud composite prepared by a conventional solvent casting technique and comparison of the same with that of the virgin polymer, various characterizations was done.

Phase Constitution During Sintering of Red Mud and Red Mud–Fly Ash Mixtures

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2005
The phase constitution during the sintering of pure red mud and red mud–fly ash mixtures was studied in the temperature range of 900°–1250°C. The phases formed at different sintering temperatures were analyzed by X‐ray powder diffraction.

Research on Bayer Red Mud Slurry Electrolysis

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2022
The Bayer red mud is the solid waste generated during the production of alumina by the Bayer process. At present, the stock of red mud in China exceeds 1.1 billion tons, covering an area of more than 120,000 mu, and the annual production volume is increasing by 100 million tons.

Lime-stabilized red mud bricks

Materials and Structures, 1990
Red mud is a waste material obtained from the aluminium extraction industry and consists mainly of the oxides of aluminium, iron and titianium. The present red mud production in the country is above two million tons every year, which is not being put to any worthwhile use except as a filler to a small extent in the preparation of roads.

Hydrothermal treatment of red mud

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1985
Red mud is a by-product of the Bayer process for an extraction of alumina from bauxite ore. The main constituents are Fe203, Al203, TiOe, SiO2 and Na20. Though red mud contains very effective resources as a raw material for the metallurgical industry, it has been concentrated in a large pond and has not been utilized except for limited use as a ...

From “red mud” to Bauxaline

2023

Experimental Investigation of Heat Conduction in Red Mud/Epoxy and Red Mud/Polyester Composites

International Journal of Thermophysics, 2014
Aluminum is one of the most abundant elements, and its global production generates an immense amount of industrial waste, which is the red mud. Thus, it is necessary to develop technologies aimed to reusing red mud. In this context, this work aims to experimentally examine variations in the effective thermal conductivity of polymers, modified with the ...

Microbiological treatment of red mud

2022
The research focuses on developing a bioleaching procedure for red mud samples. Bacteria were isolated using red mud from three different locations, after that, grown bacteria were applied to the red mud samples from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Samples were heated to 100°C and filtered with MiliQ water.

Catalytic hydrodechlorination of tetrachloroethylene over red mud

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2001
Hydrodechlorination of tetrachloroethylene was investigated using red mud (RM, a by-product in the production of alumina by the Bayer process) as the catalyst. Use of RM as a hydrodechlorination catalyst is of interest from an industrial point of view because its cost is much lower than that of commercial catalysts.
