The effect of chemical and mineralogical composition of red mud on alkalinity parameters
Red mud is highly alkaline colloidal suspension, which remains after processing bauxite into alumina by Bayer’s proceedings. Despite repeated washing red mud keep strong alkalinity, due to the presence of residual base and a number of alkaline minerals ...

Reduction behavior of iron in the red mud
Red mud or bauxite residue contains significant quantities of industrial metals such as Fe, Al, and Ti, as well as rare earth elements such as Sc, Ce, and La. The authors performed a laboratory-scale project dealing with stepwise recovery of valuable elements from two bauxite residues, namely Iranian red mud (IRM) and Turkish red mud (TRM).

Study on the strength characteristics and micro-mechanism of modified solidified red mud
The residue generated during the production process of alumina, known as red mud, is a type of solid waste. The engineering properties of red mud can be significantly enhanced through the modification and solidification using inorganic materials.

Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

The Wister Mud Pot Lineament: Southeastward Extension or Abandoned Strand of the San Andreas Fault? [PDF]
We present the results of a survey of mud pots in the Wister Unit of the Imperial Wildlife Area. Thirty-three mud pots, pot clusters, or related geothermal vents (hundreds of pots in all) were identified, and most were found to cluster along a northwest ...

The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Preparation, Characterization, and Photocatalytic Properties of Modified Red Mud
Solid waste red mud was modified by HCl leaching. The structure property and composition of modified red mud were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett ...

The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of
