Climate‐Driven Mangrove Dieback and Recovery: A Case Study in Albert and Leichhardt Rivers, Australia

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Cycles of dieback and recovery drove mangrove forest dynamics at the Albert and Leichhardt Rivers (Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland, Australia) over 36 years (1987–2023). Landward margins were the most affected by reduced tidal inundation when the alignment of low lunar declination suppressed tidal range and extreme El Niño phases lowered mean sea level.

Efficient Harvesting of Irregular and Low‐Frequency Mechanical Energy via Hybridized Electromagnetic‐Triboelectric Systems

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable electronics necessitates sustainable power sources to replace the limited electrochemical battery. While mechanical energy harvesting offers a promising solution, traditional harvesters face challenges of irregular and low−frequency environmental sources. This review presents the

Multistressor Interaction of Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and Temperature in Two Estuarine Fish Species, Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) and Sheepshead Minnow (Cyprinodon variegatus)

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), a perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS), is characterized by a long, fluorinated carbon chain which makes it ideal for oil‐ and water‐repellent products but detrimental for the environment, where it persists and accumulates in organisms.

Assessment of Oxidative Stress, Vitellogenin, and Human Health Risks Derived From Nile Tilapia Exposed to Metals and Metalloids in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Urban coastal lagoons are highly vulnerable ecosystems increasingly affected by metal contamination, as well as multiple anthropogenic stressors. This study evaluated ecotoxicological and human health risks associated with chronic metal exposure in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from an anthropogenically impacted lagoon in southeastern ...
