How soil conditioners and planting methods influence the cost of seedling establishment

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 2, February 2026.
A high risk of plant failure in semiarid ecosystems requires restoration methods that mitigate environmental harshness while remaining economically viable. This study investigated the impact of planting methods and soil amendments on the survival and growth of Cercis griffithii, a keystone shrub of cultural significance, native to mountainous regions ...

Performance of Coating Based on β-CD-g-GO/epoxy Composites for the Corrosion Protection of Steel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
This study reports a new strategy for enhancing the anti-corrosion properties of epoxy coatings. For this purpose, beta-cyclodextrin-graphene oxide (β-CD-g-GO) nanosheets were synthesized via anchoring beta-cyclodextrin on a graphene oxide surface in the

Performance of coating based on APTMS/GO/Epoxy composite for corrosion protection of steel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
This study reports a new strategy for providing epoxy coatings with enhanced barrier protection mechanisms. For this purpose, covalent modification of graphene oxide with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS-GO) made it easy to achieve a homogenous ...

Site and management factors determining the fate of hardwood trees planted on reclaimed coal mines in the Illinois Basin, USA

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 3, March 2025.
Despite decades of research and practice restoring forests on surface coal mines, success is still variable, and failures often occur. To better understand how variation in site factors and management affects the success of restoration of coal mines, we conducted a survey of tree performance for mine sites in the Illinois Basin across Indiana, USA ...

A novel emaravirus is associated with redbud yellow ringspot disease [PDF]

open access: yesVirus Research, 2016
Yellow ringspot is the only virus-like disease reported in redbud (Cercis spp.) with symptoms including vein clearing, chlorotic ringspots and oak-leaf pattern. A putative new emaravirus was present in all trees displaying typical yellow ringspot symptoms and the name redbud yellow ringspot associated virus is proposed.
