A Method to Implement Natural Flow Regimes for Regulated Rivers
Abstract Rivers throughout the world have been dammed for flood control, irrigation, hydropower, and water storage for centuries. During kidney aging, loss of the MICOS complex drives cristae disorganization, impairs oxidative capacity, and alters mitochondrial dynamics. MICOS disruption elevates mitochondrial ROS and disrupts calcium homeostasis, linking mitochondrial structural remodeling to metabolic dysfunction in aging kidney tissue.
