High voltage gain power converters are very important in photovoltaic applications mainly due to the low output voltage of photovoltaic arrays. This kind of power converters includes three or more semiconductor devices and four or more energy storage elements, making the dynamical analysis of the controlled system more difficult.

This paper shows the controller design for a second‐order plant with unknown varying behavior in the parameters and in the disturbance. The state adaptive backstepping technique is used as control framework, but important modifications are introduced.

This paper shows a study, both analytical and numerical, of a continuous‐time dynamical system associated with a simple model of a wastewater biorreactor. Nonsmooth phenomena and border‐collision local bifurcations appear when the main parameters (dilution and biomass concentration at the inflow) are varied.

Adaptive Quasi‐Sliding Mode Control for Permanent Magnet DC Motor
The motor speed of a buck power converter and DC motor coupled system is controlled by means of a quasi‐sliding scheme. The fixed point inducting control technique and the zero average dynamics strategy are used in the controller design. To estimate the load and friction torques an online estimator, computed by the least mean squares method, is used ...

Quantization Effects on Period Doubling Route to Chaos in a ZAD‐Controlled Buck Converter
The quantization effect in transitions to chaos and periodic orbits is analyzed in this paper through a specific application, the zero‐average‐dynamics‐ (ZAD‐) controlled buck power converter. Several papers have studied the quantization effects in the one periodic orbit and some authors have given guidelines to design digitally controlled power ...

Two‐Valued Control for a Second‐Order Plant with Additive External Disturbance
In this work a two‐valued state feedback control for a plant of second order with known constant coefficients and an additive bounded disturbance is designed. In this controller the control signal can take only two possible values. The controller design is based on Lyapunov‐like function method, achieving the convergence of the tracking error to a user‐

Adjustment of model parameters to estimate distribution transformers remaining lifespan [PDF]
Currently, the electrical system in Argentina is working at its maximum capacity, decreasing the margin between the installed power and demanded consumption, and drastically reducing the service life of transformer substations due to overload (since the ...
