Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Forward Modeling of Galaxy Populations for Cosmological Redshift Distribution Inference

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
We present a forward-modeling framework for estimating galaxy redshift distributions from photometric surveys. Our forward model is composed of: a detailed population model describing the intrinsic distribution of the physical characteristics of galaxies,

Reconstructing Redshift Distributions with Cross-Correlations: Tests and an Optimized Recipe [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 721:456-468, 2010, 2010
Many of the cosmological tests to be performed by planned dark energy experiments will require extremely well-characterized photometric redshift measurements. Current estimates are that the true mean redshift of the objects in each photo-z bin must be known to better than 0.002(1+z) if errors in cosmological measurements are not to be degraded.

Redshift Drift in LTB Void Universes

open access: yes, 2010
We study the redshift drift, i.e., the time derivative of the cosmological redshift in the Lema\^itre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) solution in which the observer is assumed to be located at the symmetry center.

Constraining Cosmic Evolution of Type Ia Supernovae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present the first large-scale effort of creating composite spectra of high-redshift type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) and comparing them to low-redshift counterparts.

The SDSS-IV Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: Baryon Acoustic Oscillations at Redshift of 0.72 with the DR14 Luminous Red Galaxy Sample [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2017
The extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) Data Release 14 sample includes 80,118 luminous red galaxies (LRGs). By combining these galaxies with the high-redshift tail of the BOSS galaxy sample, we form a sample of LRGs at an effective ...

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

An improved redshift indicator for Gamma-Ray Bursts, based on the prompt emission

open access: yes, 2006
We propose an improved version of the redshift indicator developed by Atteia (2003), which gets rid of the dependence on the burst duration and provides better estimates for high-redshift GRBs.

Inter‐Layer Diffusion of Excitations in 2D Perovskites Revealed by Photoluminescence Reabsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inter‐layer diffusion of photoexcitations is monitored in thin films of the 2D perovskite (PEA)2PbI4 by tracking time‐dependent changes in photoluminescence spectra induced by photon reabsorption effects. A low out‐of‐plane excitation diffusion coefficient of 0.26 × 10−4 cm2 s−1 is determined through 1D diffusion modeling.

Prescriptions for Correcting Ultraviolet-Based Redshifts for Luminous Quasars at High Redshift [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
High-redshift quasars typically have their redshift determined from rest-frame ultraviolet (UV) emission lines. However, these lines, and more specifically the prominent C IV $\lambda 1549$ emission line, are typically blueshifted yielding highly uncertain redshift estimates compared to redshifts determined from rest-frame optical emission lines.
