The redshift revisited

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1995
We analyse the history of modern cosmology based on the redshift phenomenon and on the cosmic background radiation (CBR). We show the models of different authors for the interpretation of the redshift and how the tired light models predicted the correct value of 2.7 K temperature previous to Gamow and collaborators.

On the Nature of the Redshifts of the Twin Quasars with Discrepant Redshifts

Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 1991
AbstractWe examine the nature of the redshifts of twin quasars with discrepant redshifts (θ < 100 arcsec, Δz ≥ 0.5) by considering their Hubble diagram. If such twins are physically associated one expects a large scatter in their Hubble diagram. However, we find a statistically significant linear correlation between log (cz) and Vc magnitudes of ...

Redshift of OQ172

Nature, 1973
Comments on a recently discovered second QSO with a redshift greater than 3. From a study of a composite spectrum of OQ172 formed by adding data from spectra obtained on different nights two strong emission features near 5540 and 7015 A are noted and are identified with Lyman alpha 1216 A and CIV 1549 A.

Redshift of OH471

Nature, 1973
THE purpose of this letter is to draw attention to the very high redshift, z = 3.40, of the QSO OH471.

On the Redshifts of Galaxies

Nature, 1971
THERE have been several investigations of possible parts in the redshifts of galaxies which are apparently not due to their radial systemic velocities1–7. In most of them the correlation between redshift and magnitude has been studied. To obtain more information about the nature of the possible redshift effect, other parameters should be studied.
