Cosmology with Redshift Surveys of Radio Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We use the K-z relation for radio galaxies to illustrate why it has proved difficult to obtain definitive cosmological results from studies based entirely on catalogues of the brightest radio sources, e.g. 3C. To improve on this situation we have been undertaking redshift surveys of complete samples drawn from the fainter 6C and 7C radio catalogues. We

Tailored Reconstruction of Polycrystalline CuO Nanorods Promotes C─C Coupling in CO2 Electroreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the polycrystallinity of CuO nanorods enables directional reconstruction into rod‐like structures that stabilize Cu(OH)2 and increase Cu+ ratios, while modulating interfacial water dynamics to enhance C─C coupling and boost C2+ product formation in CO2 electroreduction.

Type Ia Supernovae from First-generation Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) discovered at redshift z ≲ 2.5 are presumed to be produced from Population I/II stars. In this work, we investigate the production of SNe Ia from Population III binaries in the cosmological framework.

2dF QSO Redshift Survey

open access: yes, 2000
With approximately 6000 QSO redshifts, the 2dF QSO redshift survey is already the biggest complete QSO survey. The aim for the survey is to have 25000 QSO redshifts, providing an order of magnitude increase in QSO clustering statistics. We first describe the observational parameters of the 2dF QSO survey.

Redshift sensitivities of dark energy surveys

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2006
Great uncertainty surrounds dark energy, both in terms of its physics, and the choice of methods by which the problem should be addressed. Here we quantify the redshift sensitivities offered by different techniques. We focus on the three methods most adept at constraining w, namely supernovae, cosmic shear, and baryon oscillations.

π‐Bridge Engineering of Nonfullerene Acceptors for Organic Photodiodes: Extension of the Near Infrared Response Beyond 1200 nm

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A π‐bridge engineering strategy enhances intramolecular charge transfer, enabling non‐fullerene acceptors to extend near‐infrared absorption beyond 1200 nm. The resulting organic photodiodes exhibit high detectivity and fast response. These high‐performance devices demonstrate practical potential in photoplethysmography and optical wireless ...

Measuring the Conditional Luminosity and Stellar Mass Functions of Galaxies by Combining the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument Legacy Imaging Surveys Data Release 9, Survey Validation 3, and Year 1 Data

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this investigation, we leverage the combination of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) Legacy Imaging Surveys Data Release 9, Survey Validation 3, and Year 1 data sets to estimate the conditional luminosity functions and conditional ...

hCOSMOS: a dense spectroscopic survey of $r\leqslant21.3$ galaxies in the COSMOS field

open access: yes, 2017
We describe the hCOSMOS redshift survey of the COSMOS field conducted with the Hectospec spectrograph on the MMT. In the central 1~deg$^2$, the hCOS20.6 subset of the survey is $>90\%$ complete to a limiting $r=20.6$. The hCOSMOS survey includes 1701 new

Design and Applications of Multi‐Frequency Programmable Metamaterials for Adaptive Stealth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article provides a comprehensive overview of metamaterials, including their fundamental principles, properties, synthesis techniques, and applications in stealth, as well as their challenges and future prospects. It covers topics that are more advanced than those typically discussed in existing review articles, while still being closely connected ...
