Redshift sensitivities of dark energy surveys

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2006
Great uncertainty surrounds dark energy, both in terms of its physics, and the choice of methods by which the problem should be addressed. Here we quantify the redshift sensitivities offered by different techniques. We focus on the three methods most adept at constraining w, namely supernovae, cosmic shear, and baryon oscillations.

Electrically Tunable On‐Chip Topological Photonics with Integrated Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates electrically tunable on‐chip topological THz devices by integrating 2D carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets with valley‐Hall photonic crystals, enabling broadband transmission modulation (71% modulation depth) and tunable narrowband filtering (0.54 GHz shift) through electrically induced thermal tuning. This advancement paves the way for

RVSNUpy: A Python Package for Spectroscopic Redshift Measurement Based on Cross Correlation

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We introduce RVSNUpy , a new Python package designed to measure spectroscopic redshifts. Based on inverse-variance-weighted cross correlation, RVSNUpy determines redshifts by comparing observed spectra with various rest-frame template spectra.

Performance of the Quasar Spectral Templates for the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
Millions of quasar spectra will be collected by the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), leading to a fourfold increase in the number of known quasars.

Overconstrained Dynamics in Galaxy Redshift Surveys [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2001
The least-action principle (LAP) method is used on four galaxy redshift surveys to measure the density parameter Omega_m and the matter and galaxy-galaxy power spectra. The datasets are PSCz, ORS, Mark III and SFI. The LAP method is applied on the surveys simultaneously, resulting in an overconstrained dynamical system that describes the cosmic ...

Cosmology with Redshift Surveys of Radio Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We use the K-z relation for radio galaxies to illustrate why it has proved difficult to obtain definitive cosmological results from studies based entirely on catalogues of the brightest radio sources, e.g. 3C. To improve on this situation we have been undertaking redshift surveys of complete samples drawn from the fainter 6C and 7C radio catalogues. We

Thermal Phase‐Modulation of Thickness‐Dependent CVD‐Grown 2D In2Se3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of CVD‐grown 2D In2Se3 reveals a distinct thickness‐dependent phase landscape and a reversible, thermally driven transformation between β″ and β* variants. In situ TEM electron diffraction and Raman spectroscopy reveal structural dynamics, while the structural invariance of the α‐phase in ultrathin regimes highlights its stability—

The quasars’ redshift estimation method based on piecewise Gaussian fitting

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2019
To solve the problem that high-redshift and broad emission lines weaken the quasar discovery and observation severely, a new redshift calculation method based on piecewise Gaussian fitting is proposed. The denoised and normalized spectrum is divided into

Photoluminescent UV Light Modulation via Anisometric Carbon Nanodots for UV–Visible Shutter and UV Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Anisometric carbon nanodots are synthesized directly from a liquid crystal precursor and embedded into polymer network liquid crystals to create soft, multifunctional photonic films. These hybrid devices exhibit polarized photoluminescence, broad UV absorption, and fast, electrically tunable light modulation.
