Reduced order Galerkin models of flow around NACA‐0012 airfoil

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2008
The construction of low‐dimensional models of the flow, containing only reduced number of degrees of freedom, is the essential prerequisite of closed‐loop control of that flow.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Eigenstrain-based reduced order homogenization models for polycrystal plasticity: addressing scalability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this manuscript, accelerated, sparse and scalable eigenstrain-based reduced order homogenization models have been developed for computationally efficient multiscale analysis of polycrystalline materials.

A method to generate computationally efficient reduced order models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A new method is presented to generate reduced order models (ROMs) in Fluid Dynamics problems. The method is based on the expansion of the flow variables on a Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) basis, calculated from a limited number of snapshots ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Towards Reduced-Order Models of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell

open access: yesComplexity, 2018
The objective of this work is to find precise reduced-order discrete-time models of a solid oxide fuel cell, which is a multiple-input multiple-output dynamic process.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

ModSCO. Online Reduced Order Models (ROM) to Address the Performance Gap

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
This communication presents ModSCO, a web application that supports systematic energy performance evaluation using Reduced Order Models (ROM). These models are particularly useful in scenario with missing, incomplete or uncertain building information ...

Real-Time Simulation of Parameter-Dependent Fluid Flows through Deep Learning-Based Reduced Order Models

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Simulating fluid flows in different virtual scenarios is of key importance in engineering applications. However, high-fidelity, full-order models relying, e.g., on the finite element method, are unaffordable whenever fluid flows must be simulated in ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
