Image reduction with local reduction operators
International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2010In this work we propose an image reduction algorithm based on weak local reduction operators. We use several averaging functions to build these operators and we analyze their properties. We present experimental results where we apply the algorithm and weak local reduction operators in procedures of reduction, and later, reconstruction of images.

In [13] pure generalized grammars were studied, in particular, the problem of reducing a pure generalized grammar to a pure grammar. These results are transferred to the so called pregrammars in the present paper. The obtained results may be applied not only to pure generalized grammars but also to other structures.

This paper can be considered a commentary on the much-discussed1 fact that, at least in mathematical contexts, two translations of a theory into another can both be ‘correct’ without being equivalent in the sense of term-by-term equivalence, or any well-understood sense of equivalence.

Reduction cranioplasty can greatly improve the quality of life for selected patients with severe macrocephaly and can significantly diminish some of the difficulties in the long-term chronic care of others. Because of differences in age, cranial morphology and surgical goals, the surgical plan must be tailored to the individual patient.

In order to detect more parallelism in scientific programs, one may extract a parallelism relative to reductions. This paper presents such a method which schedules programs with explicit computations of reductions. We describe the way the reductions are expressed in our input language (which is in fact the output language of the reductions detector ...

Reducts and constructs in attribute reduction
Fundam. Informaticae, 2004Summary: One of the main notions in the Rough Set Theory (RST) is that of a reduct. According to its classic definition, the reduct is a minimal subset of the attributes that retains some important properties of the whole set of attributes. The idea of the reduct proved to be interesting enough to inspire a great deal of research and resulted in ...

In today’s affluent world approximately one-third of the human population lives in astate of poverty. Around 870 million people—more than the populations of the United States and European Union combined—suffer from chronic hunger and nearly 900 million people have no access to safe drinking water. More than 350,000 women die every year during pregnancy

Depth-Reduction for Composites
2016 IEEE 57th Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS), 2016Summary: We show that every circuit with \(\mathrm{AND}\), \(\mathrm{OR}\), \(\mathrm{NOT}\), and \(\mathrm{MOD}_m\) gates, \(m\in\mathbb{Z}^+\), of polynomial size and depth \(d\) can be reduced to a depth-2, \(\mathrm{SYM}\circ\mathrm{AND}\), circuit of size \(2^{(\log n)^{O(d)}}\).
