Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Exchange rate policy and poverty reduction
The objective of this chapter is to evaluate the theoretical debate on the choice of an exchange rate regime in light of the empirical evidence with a view to suggesting appropriate exchange rate regimes that are conducive for poverty reduction.

Degree reduction techniques for polynomial optimization problems
This paper presents a new approach to quadrify a polynomial programming problem, i.e. reduce the polynomial program to a quadratic program, before solving it. The proposed approach, QUAD-RLT, exploits the Reformulation-Linearization Technique (RLT) structure to obtain smaller relaxations that can be solved faster and still provide high quality bounds ...

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Degree Reduction of Algebraic Surfaces
This paper presents an algorithm for algebraic surface degree reduction. This approach uses the Bernstein-B'ezier representation of algebraic surfaces to apply well-known B'ezier surface degree reduction algorithms to algebraic surface patches.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

DEGREE OF COMPETITION IN THE U.S. PEANUT BUTTER INDUSTRY: A DYNAMIC ERROR CORRECTION APPROACH [PDF]
Reforms in the U.S. peanut program entail a reduction in support price of peanuts. The degree to which price reduction is passed on to final consumers of peanut butter is directly related to the degree of competition in the peanut butter market.

A Method of Estimating Uranium Reduction Degree for In situ Leaching Uranium Mine Restoration
To address the challenge of evaluating groundwater remediation effectiveness after in situ Leaching (ISL) uranium mining, this study proposes a novel quantitative assessment method based on uranium isotopic fractionation (δ238U).

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Index Calculus in Class Groups of Plane Curves of Small Degree
We present a novel index calculus algorithm for the discrete logarithm problem (DLP) in degree 0 class groups of curves over finite fields. A heuristic analysis of our algorithm indicates that asymptotically for varying q, "essentially all" ...
