We describe a new method of breast reduction. Its advantages are adaptability to small, medium, or large hypertrophy, a short, well-hidden inframammary scar, preservation of good blood supply to the breast, ease of permance, and predictability in producing a breast of pleasing appearance and relatively normal function.

Reduction mammaplasty is usually performed to relieve painful symptoms and physical signs of macromastia. Justification for reduction mammaplasty should be based on the probability of relieving these clinical signs and symptoms. This retrospective study involved four surgeons who performed a variety of breast reduction procedures and was designed to ...

Repeat reduction mammaplasty is an uncommonly performed procedure. Currently, no clear operative guidelines of management exist. Sixteen patients (28 breasts) with a mean age of 29 years (range, 13 to 52 years) underwent repeat breast reduction over an 11-year period.

Galactorrhea after Reduction Mammaplasty
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1993A case of extremely painful swelling of the breasts following a reduction mammaplasty is presented. There were no signs of an abscess or hematoma. A milky white fluid due to galactorrhea was evacuated at operation, and further galactorrhea was inhibited by medication. The pathogenesis of galactorrhea and its treatment are discussed.

Breastfeeding after reduction mammaplasty
British Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1994A retrospective study was performed of 30 women who had undergone breast reduction and subsequently wished to breastfeed. I present an operation for breast reduction in which a prosthesis-shaped mass of breast tissue is removed through a transverse inframammary incision. No skin is removed. With time the breast tissue and skin shrink. No skin markings are required. There is very little interference with blood or nerve supply to the skin, areola, and nipple.

Circumvertical reduction mammaplasty
Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 2002The main indication of the circumvertical technique is the removal of 400-1000 mg of breast tissue. It is also an intermediate method and an alternative between the periareolar and the vertical techniques. The advantages of the circumvertical technique is that it is simple and fast to accomplish, only the inferior half of the gland is operated, there ...

Arch mammaplasty is a breast reduction technique based on the inferior pedicle. It uses all the specific advantages of the inferior pedicle while avoiding the inframammary scars and dead space that occur with the inverted T technique. Arch mammaplasty has proven versatile and extremely safe, and it has a surprisingly good rate of acceptance by the ...

Periareolar Reduction Mammaplasty
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1991This paper examines the technique of periareolar reduction mammaplasty. Periareolar reduction mammaplasty is a less aggressive procedure than traditional techniques. It preserves a greater number of central glandular lobules, as well as the papillary artery and nerve.

Vertical Reduction Mammaplasty
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 2004The patients seeking our help for breast reduction are very often young and probably planning to have children later in their lives. Therefore it is most important to offer them a method of reduction mammaplasty that leaves as little scars and as much physiological function as possible.
