Reductive Dechlorination of Hexachlorobenzene under Various Additions

Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, 2002
Microorganisms collected from sediments of Ho-Tsin River in southern Taiwan were used in this study. The ability to dechlorinate hexachlorobenzene (HCB) was induced by enrich- ment incubation in yeast extract amended culture and acclimation with HCB.

Reductive Dechlorination of Trichloroethylene:  A Computational Study

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2002
Vitamin B12 catalyzes the reductive dechlorination of several ubiquitous pollutants including the conversion of trichloroethylene (TCE) to ∼95% cis-1,2-dichloroethylene (DCE) and small amounts of trans-DCE and 1,1-DCE. The origins of this unexpected selectivity were investigated using density functional and coupled-cluster theory.

KINETICS OF TETRACHLOROETHYLENE-REDUCTIVE DECHLORINATION CATALYZED BY VITAMIN B12

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 1998
Abstract Reductive dechlorination kinetics of tetrachloroethylene (PCE) to ethylene catalyzed by vitamin B12 using Ti[III] citrate as the bulk reductant was examined in a vapor/water batch system. A kinetic model incorporating substrate–B12 electron-transfer complex formation and subsequent product release was developed.

Effect of PCB concentration on reductive dechlorination and dechlorination potential in natural sediments

Water Research, 1995
Abstract The effect of PCB concentration on microbial reductive dechlorination was examined using two individual congeners, 2,3,4- and 2,3,4,2′,4′,5′-chlorobiphenyl (CBP), at four concentrations ranging from 4 to 35 ppm. Dechlorination potential in PCB-contaminated river sediments was also determined as the length of the lag period in a single ...

Microbially Mediated Reductive Dechlorination of Dichlorobenzene

1999
Abstract : The microbially mediated reductive dechlorination of 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1 ,4-dichlorobenzene (DCB) was studied using site material from eight different locations. The soil and groundwater from each site were anaerobically added to multiple serum bottles and mixed.
