Non-Redundant and Redundant Post Coding in OFDM Systems

2006 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speed and Signal Processing Proceedings, 2006
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) provides a viable solution to communicate over frequency selective fading channels by converting them to an equivalent collection of flat fading channels. In doing so, OFDM systems fail to reap the benefits of diversity available in multipath fading channels.

Component Redundancy Versus System Redundancy in Different Stochastic Orderings

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 2014
Stochastic orders are useful to compare the lifetimes of two systems. We discuss both active redundancy as well as standby redundancy. We show that redundancy at the component level is superior to that at the system level with respect to different stochastic orders, for different types of systems.

Realistic cold redundant systems

Reliability Engineering, 1983
Abstract The advantages of cold redundant systems for non-repairable spaceborne and ground-based systems are well established. However, the realistic analysis of cold redundancy must often include consideration of unequal failure rates and switching reliability. This paper considers the effect of these factors on cold redundant systems.

Analysis of a Dynamic Redundant System

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1978
This paper considers a Safeguard which upon demand should initiate some action within a short time. A form of dynamic redundancy is introduced and the reliability of a Safeguard is analysed on the basis of two computer algorithms. Both fail-to-safe and fail-to-danger probabilities are considered.

Redundant Systems with Appreciable Exchange Time

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1977
In dealing with redundant systems, the time required to exchange the failed unit for a spare one is often assumed to be negligible and only the time required for repair is considered. If exchange time is indeed appreciable, numerical methods are applied to analyze the system because it is usually thought to be too complicated to be solved analytically.

Standby Redundant Systems in Random Environment

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1978
AbstractReliability systems with one or two redundant standby components are studied. The systems are situated in a random environment which generates shocks according to a renewal point process. The shocks will cause a component to fail with a certain probability.
