Trace element geochemistry of ordinary chondrite chondrules: the type I/type II chondrule dichotomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report trace element concentrations of silicate phases in chondrules from LL3 ordinary chondrites Bishunpur and Semarkona. Results are similar to previously reported data for carbonaceous chondrites, with rare earth element (REE) concentrations ...

Conformal bootstrap to R\'enyi entropy in 2D Liouville and super-Liouville CFTs

open access: yes, 2019
The R\'enyi entanglement entropy (REE) of the states excited by local operators in two-dimensional irrational conformal field theories (CFTs), especially in Liouville field theory (LFT) and $\mathcal{N}=1$ super-Liouville field theory (SLFT), has been ...

Accelerating Discovery to Deployment: Argonne's Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF) and Its Role in Scaling Materials Technologies for Water and Resource Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this Perspective, we highlight the processing science and scale‐up capabilities of the Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF) at the U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory, with an emphasis on practical solutions for sustainable water and critical resource recovery. We demonstrate how national laboratories bridge fundamental

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Acute oral sodium propionate supplementation raises resting energy expenditure and lipid oxidation in fasted humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), produced from fermentation of dietary fibre by the gut microbiota, have been suggested to modulate energy metabolism. Previous work using rodent models have demonstrated that oral supplementation of the SCFA propionate ...

Time‐Resolved SAXS Reveals Distinct Millisecond Metal‐Induced Conformational Dynamics of Monomeric α‐Synuclein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved SAXS reveals how physiologically relevant metal ions shape the earliest conformational responses of monomeric α‐synuclein. Fe3+ induces rapid compaction, Cu2+ generates heterogeneous and partially folded ensembles, while Mn2+ and Zn2+ cause only modest changes.

Nonrelativistic Spin Current Generated Unconventional Spin Hall Magnetoresistance in Altermagnetic RuO2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is reported that the unconventional spin Hall magnetoresistance generated from nonrelativistic spin currents in RuO2 is capable of accurately detecting spin current polarization and disentangling the T̂$\hat{T}$‐odd and T̂$\hat{T}$‐even components of a spin current.
