Application of biologics for ridge preservation/reconstruction after implant removal
Abstract Background The purpose of this review was aimed at providing the rationale supported with a series of cases to apply biologics to enhance orchestrating the healing process at implant removal sites. Summary Implant removal is commonly applied on a daily basis, in particular, in cases that exhibit esthetic failures linked to inadequate implant ...

Evaluation of BER for the EHF Communication System Serving Sharp-Coned Reentry Vehicles
“Communication blackout” could lead to severe risks to reentry vehicles. Previous studies have shown that EHF (extremely high frequency) communication is a potential solution to the “communications blackout” and was mostly used for blunt-coned vehicles ...

Tropical surface gold mining: A review of ecological impacts and restoration strategies
Abstract Surface gold mining severely degrades landscapes, causing deforestation, soil erosion and displacement, and toxic contamination. The prevalence of both large‐scale and artisanal, small‐scale surface gold mining in the tropics has risen over recent decades.

Reentry Risk and Safety Assessment of Spacecraft Debris Based on Machine Learning [PDF]
Uncontrolled spacecraft will disintegrate and generate a large amount of debris in the reentry process, and ablative debris may cause potential risks to the safety of human life and property on the ground. Therefore, predicting the landing points of spacecraft debris and forecasting the degree of risk of debris to human life and property is very ...

Calcium Handling Defects and Cardiac Arrhythmia Syndromes
Calcium ions (Ca2+) play a major role in the cardiac excitation-contraction coupling. Intracellular Ca2+ concentration increases during systole and falls in diastole thereby determining cardiac contraction and relaxation.

Low voltage areas on the cavotricuspid isthmus-An underrecognized cause of a prolonged post-pacing interval after entrainment of typical atrial flutter. [PDF]
Post‐pacing interval (PPI)‐tachycardia cycle length >100 ms after entrainment from the cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) is rare in typical atrial flutter (AFL). Low‐voltage areas (LVAs) in the CTI can create conduction blocks or alter wavefront propagation, highlighting their underrecognized role in prolonged PPI in typical AFL.

Torsade de Pointes is a polymorphic ventricular tachycardia which is as yet incompletely understood. While the onset of a TdP episode is generally accepted to be caused by triggered activity, the mechanisms for the perpetuation is still under debate.
