Disposable reference electrode
The Analyst, 1998A disposable reference electrode was developed which can be used for environmental and medical analysis. It is an Ag/AgCl electrode with an integrated junction, prepared using inexpensive materials such as glass-fibre filter medium and heat-sealing film with screen printing and encapsulating by lamination.

Fluoride-selective electrode with internal redox reference electrode
Mikrochimica Acta, 1995The potential response of a symmetrical configuration in which the LaF3-membrance is placed between two solutions is discussed. The electrode body provides contact with the inner surface of the fluoride membrane, with a solution containing Fe(CN)63- - Fe(CN)64- redox couple and a Pt wire as internal reference electrode.

Alternative Reference Electrode Placements
American Journal of Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, 2007The epileptologists asked the technologists in our laboratories to investigate the use of alternative references. The investigation included evaluation of each reference as well as the amount of time placing the additional references added to the procedure.

Copper sulfate reference electrode
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2011Abstract The goal of this experimental study was to accurately determine the potential of the copper sulfate electrode (CSE) for use in quantitative electrochemical analysis. The potential of the CSE at 25 °C was found to be 317 mV versus that of the normal hydrogen electrode (NHE), with a slope of 0.17 mV/°C over the range from 5 °C to 45 °C.

A simple, instrument-free method to control the standard potential (E°) of potentiometric solid-contact ion-selective electrodes (SC-ISE) is described. In this method, the electrode potential of a SC-ISE is reset by short-circuiting the electrode with a ...

Reference electrodes based on conducting polymers
Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2000Several attempts to produce conducting polymer based all-solid-state reference electrodes are presented. Open circuit potential of conducting polymers is redox sensitive and Donan equilibrium dependent. Therefore, more sophisticated constructions are necessary.
