Forecasting reference evapotranspiration

Acta Horticulturae, 2000
The ability to forecast reference evapotranspiration (ETo) accurately will greatly enhance our capability to manage the irrigation of high-frequency irrigation systems and shallow-rooted crops. If weather data are accurately forecast from synoptic and mesoscale models, then ETo forecasts are likely to be more accurate than statistical models.

Reference Evapotranspiration Models

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
This paper will examine the concept of evapotranspiration (ET) in more detail and provide more details into the concept of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) and of the measurement and estimation of ETo. Studies of ET models usually involve the comparison of a single model in different climates, different model types in the same location, or model ...

Operational Estimates of Reference Evapotranspiration

Agronomy Journal, 1989
AbstractMany forms of the Penman combination equation have been proffered for estimating daily evapotranspiration (ET) by the agricultural reference crops grass and alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.). This study was conducted to evaluate popular forms of the Penman equation, and to develop and evaluate general relationships for estimating daily average ...

ASCE's Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Equation

Watershed Management and Operations Management 2000, 2001
The ASCE Evapotranspiration in Irrigation and Hydrology Committee (ASCE-ET) is recommending, for the intended purpose of establishing uniform evapotranspiration (ET) estimates and transferable crop coefficients, two Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Surfaces : (1) a short crop (similar to grass) and (2) a tall crop (similar to alfalfa), and

FAO‐24 Reference Evapotranspiration Factors

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1991
Improved equations are presented tor calculating correction factors for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization Irrigation and Drainage Paper Number 24 (FAO‐24) grass reference evapotranspiration methods. Equations duplicate tables of correction factors contained in the original FAO‐24 report and simplify development of computer ...

Reference and Crop Evapotranspiration

2012
Advancements have been made in estimating potential and reference evapotranspiration. Actual crop evapotranspiration estimation still is a challenge due to limited availability of local crop coefficients and large-scale variation in field conditions.

Forecasting of reference crop evapotranspiration

Agricultural Water Management, 1993
Abstract The first step in the determination of irrigation water requirements for use in project planning, design, and operation commonly involves the prediction of the reference crop evapotranspiration. This paper presents a simple mathematical model for forecasting reference crop evapotranspiration at three stations in California that represent ...

Reference Crop Evapotranspiration from Temperature

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1985
MEASURED lysimeter evapotranspiration of Alta fescue grass (a cool season grass) is taken as an index of reference crop evapotranspiration (ETo). An equation is presented that estimates ETo from measured values of daily or mean values of maximum and minimum temperature. This equation is compared with various other methods for estimating ETo.

Defining and Using Reference Evapotranspiration

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1994
Values of reference evapotranspiration (ET0) are used with crop coefficients (KC) for many aspects of irrigation and water resources planning and management. More than a score of methods are used for estimating ET0. Estimated values vary widely due to the lack of standardization of the reference.
