ESTIMATING REFERENCE EVAPOTRANSPIRATION WITH AN ATMOMETER

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2001
Measurement or estimation of crop water use is important in scheduling irrigations for efficient water management. Atmometers have been used to measure evaporation, but recent models have not been tested against evapotranspiration (ET) estimated from weather data.

Reference evapotranspiration changes in Slovenia, Europe

Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2018
Abstract Evapotranspiration is an important element of the water cycle and possible trends in the evapotranspiration can, among others, influence on the water management and agricultural production. Since actual evapotranspiration values are rare and difficult to estimate, reference evapotranspiration was examined in order to document changes in the ...

Soft computing approaches for forecasting reference evapotranspiration

Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 2015
The GP, SVM-FFA, ANN and SVM-Wavelet modeling of ET0 was reported.SVM-Wavelet had the smallest RMSE of 0.233mmday-1 in testing phase. The ANN model had the largest RMSE of 0.450mmday-1.SVM-Wavelet model was found to perform better than the GP, SVM-FFA and ANN models.

Neural computing modeling of the reference crop evapotranspiration

Environmental Modelling & Software, 2012
Reference crop evapotranspiration (ET"o) estimation is of importance in irrigation water management for the calculation of crop water requirements and its scheduling, in rainfall-runoff modeling and in numerous other water resources studies. Due to its importance, several direct and indirect methods have been employed to determine the reference crop ...

GEP and MLR approaches for the prediction of reference evapotranspiration

Neural Computing and Applications, 2018
In this study, reference evapotranspiration (ETo) is modeled as one of the major items of hydrological applications from different combinations of climatic variables using two different techniques: gene expression programming (GEP) and multiple linear regression (MLR).

Sensitivity analysis of reference evapotranspiration to sensor accuracy

Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 2015
Sensor inaccuracy can result in reference evapotranspiration inaccuracy. We performed local and global (Morris and eFAST) sensitivity analysis. Both semi-arid Colorado and humid Florida were evaluated.Sensitivity method results were strongly correlated with each other.Local sensitivity analysis is recommended to weather network managers.

Defining and Using Reference Evapotranspiration

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1994
Values of reference evapotranspiration (ET0) are used with crop coefficients (KC) for many aspects of irrigation and water resources planning and management. More than a score of methods are used for estimating ET0. Estimated values vary widely due to the lack of standardization of the reference.

ASCE's Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Equation

Watershed Management and Operations Management 2000, 2001
The ASCE Evapotranspiration in Irrigation and Hydrology Committee (ASCE-ET) is recommending, for the intended purpose of establishing uniform evapotranspiration (ET) estimates and transferable crop coefficients, two Standardized Reference Evapotranspiration Surfaces : (1) a short crop (similar to grass) and (2) a tall crop (similar to alfalfa), and

Reference and Crop Evapotranspiration in South Central Nebraska. I: Comparison and Analysis of Grass and Alfalfa-Reference Evapotranspiration

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2008
In Nebraska, historically, there have been differences among the water regulatory agencies in terms of the methods used to compute reference evapotranspiration ( ETref ) to determine actual crop water requirements and hydrologic balances of watersheds.

Reference Crop Evapotranspiration from Temperature

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1985
MEASURED lysimeter evapotranspiration of Alta fescue grass (a cool season grass) is taken as an index of reference crop evapotranspiration (ETo). An equation is presented that estimates ETo from measured values of daily or mean values of maximum and minimum temperature. This equation is compared with various other methods for estimating ETo.
