Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Randomized Predictive P-values: A Versatile Model Diagnostic Tool with Unified Reference Distribution

open access: yes, 2019
Examining residuals such as Pearson and deviance residuals, is a standard tool for assessing normal regression. However, for discrete response, these residuals cluster on lines corresponding to distinct response values.

On the spectral depolarisation and lidar ratio of mineral dust provided in the AERONET version 3 inversion product [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Knowledge of the particle lidar ratio (Sγ) and the particle linear depolarisation ratio (δγ) for different aerosol types allows for aerosol typing and aerosol-Type separation in lidar measurements.

Reference Values and Reference Correlations for the Thermal Conductivity and Viscosity of Fluids.

open access: yesJournal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data, 2018
In this paper, reference values and reference correlations for the thermal conductivity and viscosity of pure fluids are reviewed. Reference values and correlations for the thermal conductivity and the viscosity of pure fluids provide thoroughly ...

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Income and happiness across Europe: Do reference values matter? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Using data from the European Social Survey (ESS), we examine the link between income and subjective well-being. We find that, for the whole sample of nineteen European countries, although income is positively correlated with both happiness and life ...

The reference distributions of Maurer's universal statistical test and its improved tests [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Maurer's universal statistical test can widely detect non-randomness of given sequences. Coron proposed an improved test, and further Yamamoto and Liu proposed a new test based on Coron's test. These tests use normal distributions as their reference distributions, but the soundness has not been theoretically discussed so far. Additionally, Yamamoto and

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Normal Values of Standard Full Field Electroretinography in Healthy Subjects in Northern Iran

open access: yesCaspian Journal of Neurological Sciences, 2017
Background: Electroretinography (ERG) is known as a diagnostic test for evaluating the performance of different layers of the retina. Its normal values maybe different in different populations.
