Predictive topology refinements in distributed stream processing system
Cloud computing has evolved the big data technologies to a consolidated paradigm with SPaaS (Streaming processing-as-a-service). With a number of enterprises offering cloud-based solutions to end-users and other small enterprises, there has been a boom in the volume of data, creating interest of both industry and academia in big data analytics ...

Cluster-mining: An approach for determining core structures of metallic nanoparticles from atomic pair distribution function data [PDF]
We present a novel approach for finding and evaluating structural models of small metallic nanoparticles. Rather than fitting a single model with many degrees of freedom, the approach algorithmically builds libraries of nanoparticle clusters from ...

Source Broadcasting to the Masses: Separation has a Bounded Loss
This work discusses the source broadcasting problem, i.e. transmitting a source to many receivers via a broadcast channel. The optimal rate-distortion region for this problem is unknown.

Distributional Soft Actor-Critic With Three Refinements
Reinforcement learning (RL) has shown remarkable success in solving complex decision-making and control tasks. However, many model-free RL algorithms experience performance degradation due to inaccurate value estimation, particularly the overestimation of Q-values, which can lead to suboptimal policies. To address this issue, we previously proposed the

ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Complete measurements of quantum observables
We define a complete measurement of a quantum observable (POVM) as a measurement of the maximally refined version of the POVM. Complete measurements give information from the multiplicities of the measurement outcomes and can be viewed as state ...

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Stability and Independence for Multivariate Refinable Distributions
Typical constructions of wavelets, arising in signal analysis and image processing, depend on the stability of the shifts of an underlying refinable function. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of the shifts of certain compactly supported refinable functions are obtained in terms of the zeros of the refinement mask.
