Refinable Function Vectors

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1998
Dependence of properties of refinable function vectors on their refinement masks is studied. In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of cascade algorithms, for the stability and orthonormality of refinable vectors are found.

Smoothness of refinable function vectors on ℝn

open access: yesInternational Journal of Wavelets, Multiresolution and Information Processing, 2017
Let [Formula: see text] be a dilation matrix, an [Formula: see text] expansive matrix that maps [Formula: see text] into itself. Let [Formula: see text] be a finite subset of [Formula: see text] and for [Formula: see text] let [Formula: see text] be [Formula: see text] complex matrices.

On stable refinable function vectors with arbitrary support

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2008
Refinable function vectors with arbitrary support are considered. In particular, necessary conditions for stability are given and a characterization of the symbol associated with a stable refinable function vector in terms of the transfer operator is ...

Properties of locally linearly independent refinable function vectors

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2003
The paper considers properties of compactly supported, locally linearly independent refinable function vectors Φ=(φ1,…,φr)T, . In the first part of the paper, we show that the interval endpoints of the global support of φν, ν=1,…,r, are special rational ...

Refinements of Jessen’s Functional

Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, 2016
In this paper we obtain new refinements of Jessen's functional, defined by means of positive linear functionals. Derived results are then applied to weighted generalized and power means. We also obtain new refinements of numerous classical inequalities such as arithmetic-geometric mean inequality, Young's inequality and Holder's inequality.

Generalized Refinable Function Vectors with Hermite Interpolating Property

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
Wavelet analysis has many applications in scientific areas such as computer graphics, image processing, numerical algorithms and signal denoising. In general, a wavelet is derived from a refinable function vector via a multiresolution analysis.
