A refined two-dimensional theory of anisotropic plates

Mechanics Research Communications, 1993
The theory includes the effects of transverse normal strain and transverse shear deformation. Hamilton's mixed variational principle is used to derive the basis equation of motion of an anisotropic plate subjected to a surface traction field. The in-plane displacements are expanded as linear functions of the thickness coordinate, only the transverse ...

Finite element formulation of a refined plate theory for laminated composite plates

Journal of Composite Materials, 2013
A new four-node quadrilateral plate that accounts for shear deformation effect and all couplings from the material anisotropy is developed for laminated composite plates. Lagrangian linear interpolation functions are used to describe the primary variables corresponding to the in-plane displacements, while Hermitian cubic interpolation functions are ...

A Three-Dimensional Refined Theory of Elastic Plates

1987
Natural linear approximations are used on the edge only, in order to derive a three-dimensional refined theory of elastic plates available for bending and stretching problems. The present theory is convenient to thin and thick plates and further extensions will lead to study multilayered plates and shells.

Refined Wave Theories of Plates and Shells

2004
The paper is devoted to construction of refined hyperbolic models of plates and shells predicting the wave propagation with the finite velocities unlike the classical Kirchhoff plate theory and Kirchhoff-Love shell theory and other known modifications of parabolic type.

Refined Plate Theory in Bending Problem of Rectangular Normal Plates

2018
This chapter presents recent topics of plate analysis. The explanation is restricted isotropic uniform rectangular elastic plates in order to understand easily the advanced theory. The recent analytical methods are based on rationally considering the transverse shear deformation within the category of two-dimensional approach.

Geometrically nonlinear equations of some versions of refined plate theory

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1985
The author considers two types of nonlinear, anisotropic, thermoelastic plate theories - the Timoshenko type and the Ambartsumyan type. Specifically, orthotropic plates are considered. Equilibrium equations are derived by the use of Lagrangian principle in both the theories.

ON VIBRATION OF FUNCTIONALLY GRADED PLATES ACCORDING TO A REFINED TRIGONOMETRIC PLATE THEORY

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2005
The displacement components are expressed by trigonometric series representation through the plate thickness to develop a two-dimensional theory. This trigonometric shear deformation plate theory is used to perform free-vibration analysis of a simply supported functionally graded thick plate.
