Refined hyperbolic shear deformation plate theory

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2014
The paper presents a novel shear deformation plate theory involving only two variables. Taking a cue from exact three-dimensional theory of elasticity solutions for a plate, hyperbolic functions are used for describing displacement variation across plate thickness.

Refined shear deformation theory of laminated shells

AIAA Journal, 1993
This paper presents a refined approach for studying the effect of shear deformation in thick laminated anisotropic shells. The authors develop some theoretical preliminaries for a laminated composite shell with \(N\) perfectly bonded homogeneous anisotropic elastic layers.

Refinement of shear theory of laminar orthotropic sloping shells

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1988
In the present work, refinement of the shear theory is proposed. A second-approximation model is proposed, allowing this effect to be described on the basis of an approach invariant with respect to the number of layers in the system and allowing the distortion of the normal in the course of shell deformation to be taken into account.

Refined First-Order Shear Deformation Theory Models for Composite Laminates

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2003
In the present work, new mixed variational formulations for a first-order shear deformation laminate theory are proposed. The out-of-plane stresses are considered as primary variables of the problem. In particular, the shear stress profile is represented either by independent piecewise quadratic functions in the thickness or by satisfying the three ...

A Refined Shear Deformation Plate Theory

International Journal for Computational Methods in Engineering Science and Mechanics, 2011
An improved higher-order shear deformation theory of plates is presented in this paper. The theory is developed from the transverse shear deformation theory presented by Ambartsumian [11]. The present plate theory contains kinematics of higher-order displacement field of plates, a system of higher-order differential equilibrium equations in terms of ...
