The Slagging Model Research of Refining-Slag for High Aluminum Steel

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
To accurately control the Si content and ensure the function of slag refining in high aluminum steel, the direction and limits of reduction reaction for SiO2 were analyzed based on the thermodynamics. In addition, the thermodynamic prediction model of multi-element slag was studied.

A Review of Slag Refining of Crude Silicon

JOM, 2020
Metallurgical refining of crude silicon for low-cost, mass production of solar silicon has been studied extensively over the past two decades. One of the methods attempted to target the deleterious impurities of Si is slag refining, where liquid Si or its alloys are treated with a flux.

Water vapor solubility in ladle-refining slags

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 2006
A thermo-gravimetric technique was used to determine the hydrogen solubilities of some Al2O3-CaO-MgO-SiO2 quaternary slags. The focus of the work was to determine the water capacities in slags having lower SiO2 concentrations, which were relevant to industrial practices.

A Review of Slag Refining of Silicon Alloys

JOM, 2020
Slag refining of silicon has been modified in recent years by combining the process with solvent refining, in which an alloy of silicon is first treated by slag and then solidified under controlled conditions to yield high-purity silicon crystals. This paper discusses the effect of alloying elements on the efficiency of slag treatment.

Ductility of steel refined with liquid synthetic slag

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1970
1. In steel refined with liquid synthetic slag and subjected to improvement the work of crack initiation is high and remains unchanged down to −80°. 2. At negative temperatures the work of crack initiation is substantially higher for the improved steel than for the normalized steel. 3.

Silicon recovery from Si sawing waste through slag refining

Separation and Purification Technology, 2021
Abstract Recycling Si from Si sawing waste is a good approach aiming at meeting the rapidly increasing demand for Si, and the separation of Si and SiC particles plays a key role in the production of high-quality Si. In this work, Si was successfully recovered from Si sawing waste by using a CaO–51mol%SiO2–15mol%MgO slag.

LATS refining ladle slag modifying with CaO-CaF2

Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing, Mineral, Metallurgy, Material, 2007
Abstract To reduce the slag sticking onto the snorkel of the ladle during the ladle alloying treatment station (LATS) process. CaO-CaF2 (the mass ratio of CaO/CaF2 is 1:1) was employed as the modifier of the LATS refining ladle slag. The effect of CaO-CaF2 on the melting point, viscosity, and desulfurizing capability of the ladle slag was ...

A Model for Slag Eyes in Steel Refining Ladles Covered with Thick Slag

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 2014
During inert gas stirring in steel ladles, the overlying slag is pushed to the side by the rising gas-metal plume, resulting in an open eye of exposed steel. The present work is devoted to the modeling of ladle eyes in a bath covered with a thick slag layer, where the eyes formed are often smaller than the cross-section of the gas-metal plume.

Desulfurization ability of refining slag with medium basicity

International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy, and Materials, 2014
The desulfurization ability of refining slag with relative lower basicity (B) and Al2O3 content (B = 3.5–5.0; 20wt%–25wt% Al2O3) was studied. Firstly, the component activities and sulfide capacity (C S) of the slag were calculated. Then slag-metal equilibrium experiments were carried out to measure the equilibrium sulfur distribution (L
