A general method to normalize Landsat reflectance data to nadir BRDF adjusted reflectance
The Landsat satellites have been providing spectacular imagery of the Earth's surface for over 40 years. However, they acquire images at view angles ± 7.5° from nadir that cause small directional effects in the surface reflectance.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Case Studies in “Convento de Cristo”: recording and documentation.
Through examples in Convento de Cristo, it is discussed the contribution that graphical documentation produced through automatic photogrammetry, under SFM/MVS (structure-from-motion / multi-view-stereo) methodology, and laser scanning, can represent to ...

Investigation of effects of background water on upwelled reflectance spectra and techniques for analysis of dilute primary-treated sewage sludge [PDF]
In an effort to improve understanding of the effects of variations in background water on reflectance spectra, laboratory tests were conducted with various concentrations of sewage sludge diluted with several types of background water.

Optical far-infrared properties of graphene monolayer and multilayers
We analyze the features of the graphene mono- and multilayer reflectance in the far-infrared region as a function of frequency, temperature, and carrier density taking the intraband conductance and the interband electron absorbtion into account.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

On the reflectance spectroscopy of snow
. We propose a system of analytical equations to retrieve snow grain size and absorption coefficient of pollutants from snow reflectance or snow albedo measurements in the visible and near-infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, where snow ...
