Neural Network Characterization of Reflectarray Antennas [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2012
An efficient artificial neural network (ANN) approach for the modeling of reflectarray elementary components is introduced to improve the numerical efficiency of the different phases of the antenna design and optimization procedure, without loss in ...

Reflectarray antennas: a smart solution for new generation satellite mega-constellations in space communications. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2020
One of the most ambitious projects in communications in recent years is the development of the so-called satellite mega-constellations. Comprised of hundreds or thousands of small and low-cost satellites, they aim to provide internet services in places ...

Proof-of-Concept on Misalignment Compensation for 5.8-GHz-Band Reflectarray Antennas by Varactor Diodes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Membrane reflectarray antennas with flexible support structures realize low weight and low stowage volume. However, deformation of the reflectarray membrane generally degrades antenna gain. We propose electrical misalignment compensation for 5.8-GHz-band

Isolation Improvement in Reflectarray Antenna-Based FMCW Radar Systems [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2022
This paper presents an optimization of reflectarray-based RF sensors for detecting UAV and human presence. Our previous human detection radar system adapted a center-fed reflectarray antenna to a commercially available radar system, successfully ...

Single-Layer, Multimode OAM Reflectarray Antennas

open access: yesIEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2023
In this letter, an innovative ReflectArray (RA) antenna able to radiate in the same direction multiple Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) modes, is presented: depending on the direction of arrival of the impinging field, the RA radiates a broadside beam carrying on an OAM mode with different index.

Modern Reflectarray Antennas: A Review of the Design, State-of-the-Art, and Research Challenges

open access: yesIEEE Access
As communication technology advances, high-gain antennas are being investigated for a variety of long-distance applications. One such high gain antenna is reflectarray, it has combined advantageous characteristics of a reflector and phased array antennas.

Efficient Spectral Domain MoM for the Design of Circularly Polarized Reflectarray Antennas Made of Split Rings [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2019
The method of moments (MoM) in the spectral domain is used for the analysis of the scattering of a plane wave by a multilayered periodic structure containing conducting concentric split rings in the unit cell.

Reflectarray antennas for space applications [PDF]

open access: green2012 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband, 2012
In this paper, the advantages and recent developments of reflectarray antennas for space applications are reviewed. Basic requirements for space antennas, and the limitations and challenges of conventional designs are discussed. Various advantages of reflectarray antennas over reflectors and phased array antennas are reviewed and it is shown that ...

Bifocal Dual-Reflectarray Antenna to Generate a Complete Multiple Spot Beam Coverage for Satellite Communications in Ka-Band [PDF]

open access: goldElectronics Letters, 2020
An axially symmetric dual‐reflectarray antenna is proposed. A main reflectarray is designed to mimic a paraboloidal main reflector, and a sub‐reflectarray is designed to mimic a hyperboloidal or an ellipsoidal sub‐reflector. The dual‐reflectarray antenna is more compact than the conventional curved dual reflector.

Stretchable-Substrate-Impregnated Fabric: Deployable Reflectarray Antennas for CubeSats

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper proposes a stretchable-substrate-impregnated fabric for deployable high-gain antenna for small satellites. Constellations of small satellites offer worldwide coverage of wireless communication and earth observation; high-gain antennas are ...
