Projection volumes of hyperplane arrangements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We prove that for any finite real hyperplane arrangement the average projection volumes of the maximal cones is given by the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial of the arrangement. This settles the conjecture of Drton and Klivans that this held

Ziegler's Multi-Reflection Arrangements are free

open access: yes, 2014
In 1989, Ziegler introduced the concept of a multi-arrangement. One natural example is the reflection arrangement of a unitary reflection group with multiplicity given by the number of reflections associated with each hyperplane. For all but three irreducible groups, Ziegler showed that each such multi-reflection arrangement is free.

General Synthesis of Amorphous Pd‐Based Nanoparticles Towards Highly Efficient Nitrate‐to‐Ammonia Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A family of amorphous palladium‐based multi‐component phosphides nanoparticles, synthesized via a robust one‐step wet‐chemical method, overcoming the immiscibility of different elements and the difficulty in forming a stable, disordered structure. When applied in the electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction, these nanocatalysts effectively suppress ...

Modular elements in the lattice L(A) when A is a real reflection arrangement

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 1998
AbstractLet W be a real reflection group, and let LW denote the lattice consisting of all possible intersections of reflecting hyperplanes of reflections in W. Let pW(t) be the characteristic polynomial of LW. To every element X of LW there corresponds a parabolic subgroup of W denoted by Gal(X).

Synthesis of AgBiS2 and AgInS2 Based on Formation Energies in Sulfur‐Rich Reducing Flame

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐surface‐area AgInS2 and AgBiS2 nanoparticles were synthesized via enclosed flame spray pyrolysis by tuning flame conditions and formation energies to guide phase formation. Flame parameters were tuned to suppress oxides and enable pure sulfide phase growth.

The Professions in Modernity and the Society of the Future: A Theoretical Approach to Understanding the Polyvalent Logics of Professional Work

open access: yesProfessions and Professionalism, 2017
In this article, I draw attention to the societal arrangements that permit or produce the autonomy of professions since professionals have the task of holding the tension among different perspectives.

Topology of complex reflection arrangements

open access: yes, 2004
Let $V$ be a finite dimensional complex vector space and $W\subset \GL(V)$ be a finite complex reflection group. Let $V^{\reg}$ be the complement in $V$ of the reflecting hyperplanes. A classical conjecture predicts that $V^{\reg}$ is a $K(pi,1)$ space.

Robust Interlayer Exciton Interplay in a Twisted van der Waals Heterotrilayer on a Broadband Bragg Reflector up to Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we highlight a unique material platform capable of producing three distinct room temperature (RT) photoluminescence (PL) resonances from spatially separated regions composed of a heterobilayer (HBL), a homobilayer (HoBL), and an heterotrilayer (HTL) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) heterostructures configuration on a highly ...

Final arrangements following death: Maori indigenous decision making and tangi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Death is a universal event. It will happen to all of us, yet how we respond to death is particular and influenced by our cultural worlds. This study offers an investigation of the idiographic, of how one woman responded to, and made arrangements to ...
